After this weekend's game Drighlington Girls ARLFC 2026 U15s v Leigh Miners the Coaches wanted to give a a few special mentions:

# 22 really set the tone in our attack and driving the team forward.

# 8 most players would have stayed at home today but the work rate shown in attack and defence was fantastic especially being so poorly.

# 15 performances like today really makes people forget your problems and how much you’ve missed.
Stacey Louise Academy Of Performing Arts

# 4 outstanding in defence today you really frustrate oppositions and it’s great.

Coaches Player Award this weekend at the Drighlington Girls ARLFC 2026 U15s v Leigh Miners is also nominated to our # 11 in defense. This was a game of two halves for the team as our girls seemed to struggle to get the energy we wanted. That energy came in the 2nd half and the results appeared. But the energy was always there and worked really strong in defense.

Well done 11! 👏 💛🖤🏉

What a game for # 17 being awarded Captain's Player Award AND Coaches Player Award this weekend at the Drighlington Girls ARLFC 2026 U15s v Leigh Miners game!

The Captains said, "In the 1st half it was an even team, and it was hard to tell who was going to push the team forward. But in the 2nd half, this girl really shone and she ran hard and tackled everything. It was such a surprise! Well done!"
While the coaches nominated her as they've never seen her play like this before! And if she carries on like this they believe she will make leaps and bounds in the game. 🙌
Well done 17! 👏💛🖤🏉

Parent's Player Award at the Drighlington Girls ARLFC 2026 U15s v Leigh Miners game this weekend saw 8 girls being nominated which shows that the entire team is working. 💕

But the girl who clipped it this time with phenomenal pace down the side of the whole field to score her try is # 19.
Brilliant try, well done! 👏💛🖤🏉

Opposition Player Award this weekend at the Drighlington Girls ARLFC 2026 U15s v Leigh Miners game goes to # 8. Opposition said she started really, really strong and thought to keep making her work, keep making her tackle, as she'd get tired and not be able to keep the pace for the whole game.
But oh yes she did!
(A credit to her for playing while full of cold!)
Well done! 👏💛🖤🏉

Brilliant game by our Drighlington Girls ARLFC 2026 U15s this weekend!

It was a game played by what appeared to be two totally different Drig teams. The first half, the girls showed none of the abilities we know they have and have shown at training. One of the team described it perfectly from the sideline, " It's like we are playing in sludge".
Second half showed the team we know we are capable of and more. We can't fault the team's ability to turn their mindset around so well and there were outstanding performances from all the girls in the second half. As a coaching team we firmly believe the girls are capable of giving Oppositions a good go. They just need to believe.

Well done Girls! 🙌💛🖤

On sunday we travelled across to Siddal to be part of there festival. Down on numbers we asked the Drighlington under14s if they could help and they were more than happy to bolster our squad.

The girls got chance to play against some fantastic teams, but as to be expected with 2 teams merging and getting to know each other, the 1st couple of games was abit slow compared to standard both sets of girls have set themselves.
After a small break and reset the cogs started to turn and performances grew the girls started to cause opposition a lot of problems and we finished with some fantastic results and even better compliments.
We got into the playoffs and the opposition unfortunately didn’t want to play the 3rd vs 4th game.

Over due post incoming!!

Last week saw three of our girls putting on the Rhinos shirt for the Leeds Rhinos foundation. And playing on one of the best pitches in super league!!

The girls had a fantastic time learning from some great coaches and extending their rugby knowledge and family.

Our numbers 6 and 19 probably didn’t get on the ball as much as they’d have liked but did amazing when the opportunities did arise.

Our number 12 definitely took to the occasion with some great runs and even getting over the line for a meat pie!!! (She’ll not be happy calling it that😂).
