DUNDEE PIRATES ARE DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THE SIGNING OF RYAN SMITH #12!

The Pirates are delighted to welcome defenceman Ryan Smith to the squad for the upcoming season.

Ryan started his junior career with the Dundee Tigers before making the move to Camperdown, where he continued playing until the age of 18. During his junior career, Ryan also earned a Scotland U14 cap, representing his country on the international stage.

Ryan later returned to the Tigers junior development before taking a few seasons away from hockey. However, when Matt got involved with the team, he invited Ryan along to watch — and it didn’t take long for the hockey bug to come back! 😂🏒

Now, Ryan is ready to get back on the ice and pull on the Dundee Pirates jersey.

Welcome to the Pirates, Ryan! 🏴‍☠️🏒

Ryan comes into the Pirates with plenty of experience, having come through the Dundee Stars junior system from U10s all the way through to U19s. He has also gained valuable experience with the Dundee Wildcats, Caledonia Hellcats and Now the back in a Dundee Pirates jersey, giving him a strong background across Dundee hockey.

We’re delighted to have Ryan back with the Pirates and can’t wait to see him battling it out on the blue line this season.

ITS 6PM SOMEWHERE IN THE WORLD 🥴✍️

The Dundee Pirates are delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Smith #8, who joins us as a Defenceman! 🏒🏴‍☠️

Ryan brings plenty of experience and a physical edge to the Pirates. During his time with Basingstoke Bison, Ryan showed exactly that competitive side of his game, recording 9 points in 11 U18 games, while racking up an impressive 79 penalty minutes. He then added 6 points and 20 penalty minutes in 10 U20 appearances.

That’s 99 penalty minutes across just 21 games at Basingstoke, highlighting the toughness and physical presence Ryan can bring to the blue line. 💪🥊

Ryan also gained senior experience with the Dundee Tigers, before returning to the game in 2023/24 and making 17 SNL appearances.

We’re looking forward to seeing Ryan bring his experience, physicality and competitive edge to the Pirates this season.

Welcome aboard, Ryan! 🏴‍☠️ #8
