Riverside West End 6 Kirrie Thistle 1
Last season we had some good close games against Thistle so we knew we had to improve on last weeks flat performance.
We don't get off to a good start as Gordon has a calamity with the net, he's dismissed and we get that sorted.
We have the first shot of the game after Fin S hassles their defender and takes the ball off him. He feeds Arun but his shot goes wide.
Max is played in behind and his scuffed shot is past the keeper, heading towards the goal but it looks like it's not making it.
Xander finishes it off but he's adjudged to have been offside.
16 in and we do go one up from a great move. Matty passes it to Max, he drives inside and plays it into Ronan's path as he's overlapping down the right. His cross is gently nodded in by Fin S.

We keep the pressure on Kirrie with good football creating more chances.
Fin S has a shot just wide, Arun has a go but off target and Fin S again wide after Xander robs the ball back high up the pitch.
It's a second for us as an under pressure defender clears it off a team mate and into their own net.
A good save from Xander's placed shot at the back post keeps the score at 2-0 at half time.
Kirrie start the half on the front foot pulling a goal back from a cracking long range strike.

5 mins later and we restore our 2 goal advantage. Our jogging GK hits a long one to Fin S. It breaks off the defenders to Fin and the curled chipped finish is sublime.
3-1
The game has turned into a midfield to and fro and we take advantage with a rapid break. Fin S plays it wide to Gaulty, he moves it onto Xander and he plays it to Arun. Arun finishes cooly with his left foot.

We move up a gear, take control of the game with another couple of goals.
Xander to Fin S who gives it to Arun. He takes a touch inside the defender and smashes a shot into the net from 22 yards. Cracker!

Not sure what led to the next goal or if it was a cheese induced dream but Nicol is high up the park wide right and crosses it straight into the back of the net.
His first since 7 aside.

A few minutes later he's at it again!!
This time Nicol's cross (or was he shooting?) is right onto Xander's head in the 6 yard box but he heads it into the ground and the keeper saves.
Late drama as Arun is fouled in the box. PK. Arun looking to complete a second hat trick in 3 league games takes it but the keeper saves.

A better display from us with a much improved attitude.
Movement and passing back to what it should be so hopefully we're all learning standards can't dip in this league.

A proper team performance today with all 16 players contributing to a fine win. Special mention for Ben S and Ronan though.
Guys worked hard up and down the pitch.
We've no game next week and then we're down to Glasgow in the Scottish Cup to take on Westerton United.
One final thing, our keeper Finlay is running the Loch Ness marathon next week in aid of The Samaritans.
