Riverside West End 4 Queen Anne 2

A quick report on last nights Adamson Cup game where we took on Queen Anne AFC.
The wind machine was set to HIGH straight down the Riverside pitch behind us in the first half and we struggled with it.
Although an inswinging corner was met by new signing Finlay S which was cleared off the line. And Ben S rattled the post with a shot from outside the box
Then QA opened the scoring with a looping shot around the quarter hour mark.

We began to get the hang of the wind towards the end of the half putting QA under a wee bit of pressure.
The equaliser came just short of 40 mins. A throw in from Ben S finds Matty's new pink boots. Touch, swivel then he shoots and it's all net. No one is laughing at the boots now!

Into the wind for us and Queen Anne look to test our back line at the start of the half but we hold firm without giving away clear cut chances.
On the hour the game would change. We now begin to control the game and our passing gets better.
Davie takes a corner from the left, it's partially cleared but we swing it back from the right. It's over hit but Davie is still making his way back in from taking the corner. He checks his bag of tricks and pulls out a LeFt FoOt cross which surprises everyone.
Finlay S lashes it into the net on the volley. Cracking way to open his account.

A couple of minutes later with QA attacking our box we win the ball and break rapid. 3 one touch passes and Matty is through on goal but is brought down in the box. PK.
Finlay S strikes it home.

A couple of minutes after that we swing in a corner from the right, it bounces around then Zak S hits it into the net.
4-1
20 to go and QA get a second after we don't deal with a long ball.

After a disjointed preseason it was good to get back playing.

MoM today was stand in captain Ben S doing some lovely stuff down the left.
No need to smash a ball into the river though mate. Geezo.

On to Saturday in the cup away to Lochee United.

And that’s it all done.

Spain taking the glory and Argentina taking no prisoners.
A whopping 6 yellows and a red taking the Argies to the top of the team points table.

So the congratulations go to our winner Barry. Moving from 13th place to win after having Argentina as his pot 1 pick and dirty mob earning a massive 80 points.

Jamie will no doubt be putting his second place winnings behind the bar for his teammates.

Jay finishing up the podium places only 4 points behind Jamie.

Teresa W getting a refund on the entrance fee for ending up bottom of the pile.

Evening folks,

So that game last night was a bit bonkers.
Plenty of points to be had what ever team you were on.

And now we’re down to the final game with only 17 points between the top ten players, it’s mighty tight!!
Still got around 120 players involved with points to pick up.
Bragging rights can be decided tonight 😁

If there is a tie in the prize places it will be decided by end of group game points then goal kings the dirty mob.

Evening folks, exciting stuff in the semis with it still tight at the top of our points league.

Argentina scoring big points and at last finding their dirty side.
France disappointing in the game but a couple of yellows helping points tally’s ticking over.

As I’ve said before 3rd and 4th place play off games count for points as well so it literally is all to play for.
Tied points in prize positions separated by end of group stage points, then GK and then DM.

Even last place is only separated by 10 points with the bottom player getting their stake returned.

Really looking forward to the games at the weekend.

Afternoon folks,

We’re heading to the last 4 teams left now and there are only 14 people with all their picks out.
Most people still have a Pot 1 team and a goal kings or dirty mob so points and places will still be picked up.

The Swiss have been the biggest shock earning the most points in Pot 2. Only 4 people picked them, the majority having gone with the under performing Germans.
Argentina currently leading the team
points table.

Kev J still top of the leaderboard but it’s still tight so it’s anyone’s game to win.

A wee reminder points will be earned in the 3rd place playoff game.
And in the event of any players being tied in a top three place most points at the end of the group stage, then goal kings and then dirty mob will be used as tie break.
If it’s still even the prize will be split.

Evening Folks,
That’s us heading into the quarter finals now with only 8 teams left.
5 from pot 1, 2 from pot 2 and. Norway from pot 3.
Only 5 people are out so lots of people still getting points.
England now topping the team points table after lots of cards and goals.
Spain and Norway lagging behind needing to get scoring and more cards as well.

Morning folks,
That’s the end of the first knock out round so we’re down to the last 16.

Kev J at the top being chased by a couple of butchers!

Brazil still the top for points with a good mix of goals and cards.

France looking good to win the whole thing and are top goal scorers so far with 13.

Paraguay the dirtiest mob still in with 9 yellows and a red.

No one is out yet. Everyone has at least one team left to get them points.
So it’s all to play for!!!
