Sport Has a big part to play in young people making lasting friendships.
New research shows that the number of young people with no close friends has risen fivefold since 2014.
The study suggests growing up in a world dominated by austerity, the pandemic and social media is to blame.
The results are bleak, but at Women in Sport we know physical activity has a huge role to play here.
Our Big Sister initiative, which gives girls free or discounted gym memberships and access to girls-only sessions exists to combat loneliness and prevent girls from dropping out of sport in their teenage years.
Of girls who take part, 59% say they are happier and 71% say they have made new friends.
Big Sister is changing lives, but we need your help to continue our important work.
Donate today to help us create a brighter future for the next generation of girls.
