Match report!

Kings 6 - 1 Babworth Blues

The kings reserves sporting their new kit for the 1st home game of the season didnt disappoint,

From the start kings dominated the ball with wonderfull passing and probing in the opponents final 3rd.

A couple of early chances fell to the kings attackers but they couldn't convert. However, it wasn't long until the kings registered their 1st of the game a long ball played over the defenders allowed willet to latch on and smartly make it 1-0.

The second soon came with some good play by Clayton into millership to drop it off for staniland to calmly slot home. The wind was in the kings sails and the 3rd came soon after, ammendola whips in a good set piece and kings pressure allowed millership to slot home for 3.

The 4th goal was somewhat fortunate, willet strikes a wonderfull shot to only see it hit the post but fortunately the babworth keeper had commited. The ball rebounds of the keeper and in to make it 4!

Substitutes were made and every player made their point by playing well. The ball is fired into the impressive stanilands feet he uses his strength, rolls his man and fires low into the bottom corner for 5. Some good football is then played withing the midfield for the ever present leigh kitchenson to pick up the ball on the edge of the box and slot a wonderfull strike to the bottom corner to make it 6.

As with the run of play babworth pushed more players forward in an attempt to get something from the game. The ball is crossed into to box and the babworth player gets in front of his man to grab a goal back. FULL TIME the boys maintain their unbeaten start 💪

Every single player today deserves the plaudits as they all stepped up and made themselves count 👏

After a bright opening ten minutes and going one up early on courtesy of Will Lyon, Kings lost their rhythm giving the ball away cheaply and paid the price when the visitors equalised on the break.

Kings came back and squandered openings many created by the excellent Ben Smith but in a fairly even first half went into to the break a goal up, Sam Clarke netting. Ben Smith increased the lead after the restart, a well deserved goal.

But Babworth, a good young team came back again and pulled one back
After this both sides had chances but Kings saw the game out.
Not a classic from Kings but some good performances from Scott Oakley, Ryan Evans and the excellent Ben Smith.

Man of the match was Ben Marro.

The kings reserves started their league campaign with a win. Walkeringham away is always a difficult game but the kings men stood firm and got the result.

The game started a bit hot potato with both sides struggling to find a rhythm. Thankfully kings managed to get a foot on the ball and for the next 60 mins they dominated possession and created many good chances.

The first goal came with the run of play where rich willet picks the ball up from 25 yards and drills a wonderfull effort into the bottom left corner of the net. Kings 1-0 up.

Walkeringham kept asking questions of the kings back 3 of Kent, cobb and amendola and a long ball through bobbled over the kings keepers effort to clear allowing the Walkeringham forward to make it 1-1. This freak episode didnt affect the lads and they kept pushing. Some great work down the left by ollie law saw him beat his man and cut a ball back for Henry staniland to make it 2.

The game progressed, the ball is whipped out wide to the ever present mitch clayton to slot it calmly past the Walkeringham keepers far corner to make it 3.

Changes were rung by the manager and all substitutes played their part well. The midfield were excellent and the 2 lads up top were a problem all game.

Kings switched off in a turnover of play to allow the Walkeringham midfielder to slot home to set up a nervy ending for the away side.

An Impromptu yellow card/sin bin downed the kings to 10 men for the last 10 mins but every man stepped up and made themselves count 👏

Kings reserves continued their positive pre season with a comfortable victory.

From the start the instructions were simple, keep the ball simple passing and wait for the opportunity. It didnt take long for Kings to open their account with good work from ollie law down the right to beat his man square the ball and find staniland for his first of the morning.
The second goal came soon after with some good one touch football pulled back to hayden Kent to find the back of the net. Within 10 mins ollie law is fouled on the corner of the box to win a free kick. Up steps amendola, he whips in a great back post cross that somehow manages to nestle in the far corner. The pattern of the morning became clear with intricate passes in the final third for millership to get his 1st and staniland his second.

Again Kings controlled and pressed the game, a ball whipped in for millership to rise and fire a bullet header past the keeper to make it 6!.

Lapse in concentration occurred between the kings gk and cb allowing the otter forward to get a deserved goal for his efforts.

Half time......

Changes were made opportunitys were given and all players stepped up. Albeit a slower paced second half sourced many chances for the kings. The ball is played through for joyce who showed his strength initially and then got bullied to the floor and won a penalty, the poet then slotted home the gift to the bottom right to make it 7!!
Finally some good work out wide produced a mid level cross for beau Nicholson to fire a wonderfull volley into the net wrapping up a good morning's work.

Every player played well today and all deserve the plaudits for a professional disciplined performance.

Next week kings reserves open their season away to walkeringham hoping to take the great pre seaon form into the start of the campaign.

Two goals from Billy Stafford and a third from Ben Smith was enough to keep hold of the Tony Mason challenge Cup for a second year with a comfortable win.
Clarborough kings started brightly with some great passing play creating many chances without adding the finishing touch.
As it was an opener from Stafford saw them only one up at the break. An half which saw keeper Ben Payne as a virtual spectator.
The re start saw the visitors carve open Haxeys defence in quick succession Stafford hammering in a second before a smart four man move found Ben Smith in the box who controlled and finished well. The visitors could have added at least four more now though Haxey finished the game well pulling one back and bringing a fine save out of
Payne.
A good pre season work out, Man of the match was Billy Stafford non stop and two great goals with top performances from Mitch Oakley and debutant George White.

This Sunday we have our 2nd annual Tick Tock Tony Memorial game vs Kings Arms in Haxey to celebrate the Memory of Tony himself!! This year it’s away at Haxey and it’d be great if we had the support of the lads and support of the cause. Kick off is 10.30am in Haxey, then back the our hosts for a few bevvies & a bit of food. The festivities continue back at HQ for 4.30pm where Newcastle take on Liverpool in their first league game. As some of you know, Tick Tock Tony’s family are somewhat keen Newcastle fans 😉.
