The Isle of Wights 1st Roller Derby Team put together by a bunch of self-confessed roller skating addicts!

🛼An exclusively Inclusive team on the Island, no matter what your level, we welcome all to try out and spend two hours having fun, learning something new🛼

Wight Trash started in 2004 by professional skateboarder, John Cattle. And in 2014 we opened our shop, Wight Trash World, so we had a base to do what we could for the island.

In the last 12 years, we've helped get skateparks built across the island, and Rookley is our official outdoor park. John has been building that one over the last 10 years. Creating a welcoming space for beginners of all wheeled sports and suitable for professionals as well.

Each year the shop arranges competitions across the Isle of Wight, and creates some in shop free activities too.

The shop now doubles as a makeshift youth club where young people can come and hang out in our chill out room watching skate videos and reading books and magazines.

We also have a little skatepark in the garden that is free to use.

We try and champion the lesser known UK skate brands in the shop, hopefully keeping these core and underground brands surviving longer.

If people don't have much money then we have the Pay What You Can Afford scheme, where you can get a brand new board for what you can afford .

We're lucky to have good friends that have donated fear to make that possible .

We're also in a lucky position where we can sponsor local skaters and give them a discount on products and get involved with other clubs we think are doing cool things, like the Wight Rollers, and help them along their way too.

I was always told at school that skateboarding was not a career choice but shows what they know
