Lewes (A) 08/05/26

It was good to be back after 4 weeks with no games. Also to play on grass again! Forgotten what that felt like.

A really good game played from both sides. Lewes took an early lead through a great run from a player near the halfway line then a 2nd shortly after deflecting off one of our players. Saints played some really good football. Small 1-2s and using the width/length of the pitch well. Lewes scored a 3rd with a big kick from their keeper which the striker took well on the half volley.

Saints changed positions round and it seemed to change luck. Putting lots of pressure on with countless shots and the Lewes keeper making endless saves, saints finally broke the deadlock in the 3rd quarter followed by another shortly after.

Going into the last quarter with no subs was proving difficult with Lewes rotating every 6mins for fresh legs. Saints managed to find the equaliser but Lewes found another with a well taken shot hitting the inside of the post.

Both teams can be proud as they all put on a brilliant performance for parents and coaches.

We wish Lewes well for the remaining fixtures.

Withdean (a) 07.02.26

We were welcomed by Withdean on a cloudy but dry Sunday morning with the first time the two teams have met.

All 4 quarters were very equal and competitive. Withdean trying to play out from the back and saints trying to press high up the pitch. It was a good battle between the two teams.

Saints found themselves going a goal ahead but withdean soon came back and found themselves ahead not too long after.

Saints trying a new formation on a very big pitch with no subs was a credit to all the players. Harry.M workrate at the back was fantastic with Teo and Milan operating the wings trying to support the attack aswell as the defence when out of possession. Bailey was battling for every ball but withdean were no pushovers here.

Jaxon found himself on the scoresheet, one which was an inch perfect strike from about 20 yards. Some lovely takedowns too from some good distribution from Harry.C who again had a cracking game with some fine saves. Harry.M grabbing a last gasp goal to level things to which was a great game.

Will look forward to the next time these two teams meet.

Hove Park Colts Blue u8s (h)
25/01/26

This week saw us welcome Hove Park Colts Blue u8s.

A really good entertaining game with not much between the two teams but both having chances. Harry.C pulled off some good saves whereas the other end of the pitch saw the ball go past the post numerous times. After the 2nd Quarter we we were still yet to see a goal.

A couple of waves from Hove Park with some good build up play but saints held firm with some good defending. Hove Park striking the post from a freekick.

A low scoring game but nevertheless an entertaining game. Either team could have won. Saints hitting the post in the 3rd quarter getting closer to the target. The last few minutes of the final quarter perhaps saw the saints finish stronger but found hove park hard to break down.

Player of the match = Jaxon who throughout the game kept pressing and defending from the front. Covered nearly every blade of grass across the pitch. Unlucky not to score with the final kick of the match.

Second away game of 2026 saw us visit Lewes fc u8s.

A change of system reverting to a 5aside formation, the boys started really positively. During training this week we looked alot at pressing the opposition quicker. This paid off in the first quarter with Harry.M and Milan pressing from the front with Teo and Bailey standing firm in defence making it difficult for Lewes to push through us. 1st Quarter was end to end football with neither team settling early but we took our chances we had. Harry.M bagging a brace from the left side.

2nd Quarter we kept the same formation but replaced Bailey with Jaxon. Again quite a similar quarter to the first but saints started to settle abit more. Harry.C creating an assist with a long ball over the top and jaxon capitalising with a half volley. Harry.M with another brace from the left side gave the saints a more comfortable lead.

3rd quarter saw Bailey on for Harry.M. Reverting back to our favoured 1-2-1 formation, pushing Teo further forward from his usual defensive role to a midfield role and Milan now the sole defender. Starting to pass the ball and find space more but Lewes this quarter were harder to break down and defended well. Bailey had alot of possession down the right wing bagging himself a goal in off the far post. Jaxon was working hard winning possession back high up the pitch. Teo had a couple of efforts on goal but wasn't to be today. Milan protecting our goal, holding a good position and holding the opposition attacks off really well, trying to hold onto a clean sheet.

4th quarter saw Milan replaced by Harry.M. This quarter saw us play our best football. Starting from our keeper Harry.C. His distribution this quarter was excellent and overall verbal communication during the game was very impressive. Finding space making the pitch wider and finding an extra pass or two we managed to find the last few goals to seal the win. Jaxon with a brace, Harry.M with a brace and Bailey with another effort hit the back of the net. The Lewes goalkeeper did make a credible save this quarter tipping an effort onto his crossbar.

Final Score: Lewes 0-11 Sovereign Saints Blacks

Player of the Match = Bailey for his overall determination and willingness throughout the game. Putting pressure on opposition and driving the team forward. Also grabbed himself two goals 🙌 ⚫️⚽️

First game of 2026 Away to Premier Utd.

We found ourselves under pressure from the first whistle. We grew into the game with some great defensive work from Harry M & Teo making some great tackles and blocks. We started passing around the pitch and working the space. Some great saves from Harry C commanding his area very well also saving a very well struck penalty.

Bailey connected extremely well with a loose ball from just inside our half that managed to find its way into the Premier net, he replicated this no longer than 10 minutes later.

Milans work up front secured us a penalty through handball. Jaxon showed no pressure as he slotted home into the side netting. Jaxon grabbed a 2nd towards the end of the game reacting quickly to a kick in taking on a player and striking the ball into the bottom corner.

Overall a great first game back after the break.

Final score Premier Utd 7-4 Saints

MOM Jaxon for his work rate all over the pitch working hard for the team, himself and his 2 goals.
