English Tutor/English Tutoring Service

Teaching is our passion; neurodiversity is our speciality. We can help with literature studies, critical essay skills, RUAE (close reading), creative and discursive/persuasive writing as well as study skills across the curriculum. For us, tutoring is not just about passing an exam - it’s about enjoying the journey and learning skills you will utilise for life. When it comes to learning, one size most definitely does not fit all. We believe in building confidence through patience, strategic planning and expertly tailored tuition. We are specialists in additional support for learning, and can offer tutoring for pupils with specific learning needs such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ASD, ADHD and DLD. With over a decade of experience in English teaching, EAL teaching, and SQA marking, we have a solid track record of class and private tutoring results - our 5 star reviews are testament to this. We are verified by Disclosure Scotland (PVG scheme). All professional certificates are available to view.

If your young person is aiming for real progress this year, the best thing they can do is start from week one.

Our programme delivers 30 hours of expertly tailored teaching, with skills carefully scaffolded over 30 weeks so nothing is missed and every foundation is built properly.

We cover RUAE, critical essay, Folio and the Scottish Set Text in full, with real‑time feedback through Google Docs so I can see exactly how they write and correct it instantly.

Early sign‑up means they get the full benefit of the structure, and the strongest results come from those who begin at the start, so Allie has been working hard all summer to create specially curated resources for our students.

And that's a wrap on Qualifications Scotland marking 2026!

200 scripts, lots of professional discussion, and ongoing quality assurance to keep every marker aligned.

I had just two mark adjustments this year — a level of accuracy I’m grateful for, and one that comes from years of experience (marking since 2010, and previously a team leader).

This is why having a tutor who marks for the exam board matters. Past papers and mark schemes are public, but the real insight comes from the markers’ meetings: debating tricky responses, refining interpretations, and adding the quiet notes that never appear online. That behind‑the‑scenes understanding is what shapes how I teach exam technique.
