This week the 2nd team look to put their disappointment from the league to one side as they hope to extend their run in another competition, when they play in the second round of the Senior Cup. They will be welcoming opponents from Division 4 in Morchard Bishop, who are sure to provide a stern test as they currently sit on top of their league table after great form to start the season. Valley will be hoping to ensure Bishop taste defeat, for only the second time this season!

A disappointing weekend last week for the club, as both 1st and 2nd teams were on the receiving end of losses in the league

The 1st team were unable to make it 2 from 2 against the visitors Colyton, as they couldn’t make the most of home advantage, suffering a 2-5 defeat at Winslade Park

The 2nd team suffered a damaging 2-0 loss on their travels to fellow title hopefuls in the University of Exeter 4th team, which led to them being replaced in 3rd spot, with Uni also having games in hand. Valley will be hoping for a better outcome when they return to action in the next game, as they hope to extend their run in the cup, in the hope of a chance at silverware this season

On the bible for the match was Valley stalwart .chamings, who himself suffered the first defeat in a game he has started this season πŸ‘€. He awarded MOTM to Jacob, who stepped in following injury and put in a hard-working display as always

Both teams continue their league campaigns tomorrow at the new winter earlier kick-off time ⚽️

The 1st team host Colyton 1st, as they look to bounce back from the disappointment of their away defeat last weekend. They will be hoping to take all 3 points to keep them at the top end of the table, against a team that they’ve already beat in a close encounter earlier in the season!

The 2nd team will be hoping to build upon last weekend’s victory as they make the short trip to Duckes Meadow to face Exeter University 4th team, in the first encounter between the sides this season. Always a tough test against a youthful and energetic Uni side who will no doubt look to play, but a good chance for Valley to extend the gap between the sides in the table if they can secure the win πŸ’ͺ

Mixed fortunes for Valley this week πŸ’™β€¦

The 2nd team responded well to their return to league action today with a convincing victory against a decent Tedburn St Mary FC side. The opening goal just before half time settled the nerves and gave the side something to build on, and the early substitutes combined to bag all the goals before Tedburn’s late fight back. 5 quality finishes, with Vinnie rediscovering his goalscoring form and Brad making a very impressive return to Valley and most importantly a vital 3 points. Solid defensively for most of the game, but unfortunately tired legs meant the side couldn’t quite hold on to the clean sheet. Nonetheless a satisfying performance and important win 3️⃣

Vinnie was on the bible for today’s match and awarded himself MOTM, as well as an unprecedented (and impossible) score of 11/10! He did bag a hat-trick off the bench in what was a second half display that struck fear into the opposing defence, and it was great to see him back amongst the goals looking more like himself. So he can be forgiven for the lack of humility on this occasion πŸ€ͺ

Sadly, the 1st team didn’t receive the same fortunes in their matchup against Lapford AFC. Always a tough play to visit, Lapford proved too difficult to overcome on their own patch and ran out 3-0 winners on the day.

Both sides back to winning ways after a much more pleasing weekend for the Valley πŸ’™

The first team managed a great home victory against 2nds, to keep the pressure on the other teams battling at the top of the table πŸ“ˆ

The second team are in the hat for the next round of the cup, following a great away win against Alphington 2nds. A much improved second half display saw them take control of the game and 2 goals put them in a commanding position. A late own goal put some pressure on, but the lads managed to avoid any further scares. We wish good luck to for the rest of their season 🀝

On the bible for the match was , awarding MOTM to Josh B, who put in a solid display in the middle of the park, which was great to see after a period on the touchline. He brought physicality to the midfield and also was commanding in aerial duels, topping the display with an excellent headed goalπŸ‘

Disappointment for both teams on their return to action at the weekend just gone πŸ’”

The reserve team lost for the second time to opponents in what was an extremely lacklustre display. In a game that followed a similar pattern to the last time these sides met, Valley struggled to get into gear and ultimately the team that wanted it more ended as deserved winners! Good luck to for the rest of the season 🀝

On the bible for the match was , awarding MOTM to Chris C, who came on in the second half and brought a level of energy and communication that had been sorely lacking πŸ‘

The first team bowed out of the Sportslighting Premier Cup after a tough first round draw saw them facing fellow DEFL Premier side Upottery. It’s always nice to have a cup run, but following this defeat Valley will need to pick themselves up to focus their attention on the league and other cup competitions. Good luck to Upottery who progress onto the next round 🀝

After last weekend off, both teams are back in action tomorrow ⚽️

A perfect weekend in the sunshine β˜€οΈ as Valley bring home 6 points following a club double for the 1st & 2nd teams πŸ’™

The reserve team dispatched an inexperienced Farway United Football Club side, who kept going until the final whistle but found it difficult to contain the side. A great way to bounce back from last week’s disappointing defeat and even more pleasing to get the first clean sheet of the season 🧀

On the bible for the match was .jeffery_ , awarding MOTM to Martin, who dictated the midfield and was efficient with the ball. His dominant aerial display and 2 goals capped what was a great performance πŸ‘

The 1st team had a great result in their sequel against Lyme Regis Football Club 1st team this week, coming out 3-0 victors on this occasion in a much better performance at home. 3 points on the board and a clean sheet is a great way to bounce back having not won in the last two. With both fixtures against Lyme Regis complete now, we wish them all the best for the rest of their campaign 🀝

Meanwhile, it was a bad day at the office for the 2nd team, who were outfought against a well-organised South Zeal Utd FC outfit, who ultimately played the conditions better and showed more desire to win the game. Disappointing to taste the first defeat of the season so early following a winning start, but there will be plenty to learn from as they now hope to bounce back next week at home πŸ πŸ’™

On the bible for the match was who awarded the man of the match honour to Jack. Tireless work up and down the left side, with a good attitude despite limited service to the wide areas. Plus, effectively nullifying a threat from the opponents down the right wing, in what was a good team first performance ⚽️
