The Sideshore Project

It’s hard to believe this years Sideshore Project is only a week away.

With the weather heating up and children and teens all over the country heading to the water to cool down, it couldn’t come at a better time.

This incredible project delivers sea swimming and water safety education to 1,200 children across East Devon, giving them the skills and confidence to enjoy the water safely. Alongside that, they learn about protecting our coastline and environment for the future.

At a time when more people than ever are spending time in and around the water, helping young people understand the sea, recognise risks, and make safe decisions has never been more important. Simple knowledge can make a huge difference and helps create safer beaches, safer communities, and more confident young water users.

We can’t wait to get started and welcome another 1,200 children to the beach for a week of learning, fun, and life-saving skills.

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes as we gear up for the summer season. ☀️

From training and risk assessments to staffing and admin, plenty is going into making sure everything runs smoothly. And of course, we can’t forget the arrival of our fantastic new team kit this week - looking the part and ready for the season ahead!

🌊 Big news for The Sideshore Project! 🌊

We’re thrilled to share the news that this year, we will be welcoming the RNLI to join The Sideshore Project - a partnership that feels like a major step forward.

The RNLI will be providing a water safety talk to every child helping to reinforce the key messages delivered during the practical sea swimming session.

Their expertise and trusted voice in water safety will not only enhance what we deliver but will also help to raise the profile of the project as a whole.
