Summertown Morris are a women's Cotswold Morris side formed in Autumn 2011. We dance in a number of traditions from the Oxfordshire villages of Ascott-under-Wychwood, Wheatley, and Ducklington. If anyone is interested in dancing with us please get in touch – experience is welcome but not compulsory, and we’d love to see you. We’re proud to be a queer and trans inclusive side, so if you’re a woman

or non-binary person who’s happy dancing in our style and kit, you’d be welcome to join us! We practice on Monday evenings from October to April at the Cherwell School, Oxford, and will be welcoming new dancers in October 2026 and January 2027.

Come see us dance at BunkFest! Today!

Amy *may* have forgotten in all the post-Shrewsbury excitement that we had another festival to advertise (whoops!) so here it is, the morning of. We're looking forward to being back in the county and seeing old friends, hopefully with better weather than last weekend!

Our schedule is as follows:
11am Market Place (with Strictly Clog)
1pm Bullcroft Dance Stage (with Clerical Error Morris Dancers and Street Entertainers - Y 'Clerigwyr')
2pm The Dolphin (with Towersey Horseshoes)
3pm High Street (with Fool's Gambit Morris)

Shrewsbury Folk Festival was a joyful weekend of dancing, but it wasn’t just that…

It also involved a lot of googly eyes and blue glitter, heaps of blue jackets, instrument cases and sleepy morris dancers, lovely balfolk, Sloe Gin (the liquid as well as the dance), and threats to our melodeon players! In all, we had a great time 💙🧡🤍

We had a brilliant time dancing Shrewsbury Folk Festival - thank you so much to for inviting us! The rain didn’t put us off and we loved dancing both on the festival site and in Shrewsbury itself, bringing our Oxfordshire dances to the borders for a weekend. We were having too much fun to take many photos, but here’s the first instalment: the dancing we did 💃

If you missed us at Shrewsbury, we’ll be BunkFest this Saturday so come and watch us there!

We're looking forward to heading to Shrewsbury Folk Festival this weekend for a long weekend of dancing and making new friends! Here's our full schedule of where we'll be, including the parade on Sunday and a ceilidh spot Monday lunchtime. Oh, and look out for our group costume at the Greek Mythology themed ceilidh on Saturday night... 🐟🐙🦑

It's only a week until we head over to Shrewsbury Folk Festival in Shropshire! Our schedule is already on the website, and will be on our Instagram next week - we'll be at the festival site and in the town centre, so lots of opportunities to see us dance. We've reached the end of our pub nights season, and what a lovely one it's been! Here are some photos from dance outs at The Plough Inn - Finstock, in Eynsham (including joining Eynsham Morris for Jockey), and at The Boat Inn Thrupp. Thank you to all the teams we've danced with, the pubs who've hosted us, and everyone who's come to watch 💙

We've got a couple more festivals still this summer - Shrewsbury Folk Festival at the end of August and BunkFest the weekend after - so more details to follow about those soon!

Just one more pub night this year with our good friends Eynsham Morris, and then it's on to festivals for the rest of the summer! We're looking forward to dancing at White Horse Folk festival, Shrewsbury Folk Festival and BunkFest - full schedules coming soon. And you never know, you might catch us busking at The Sidmouth Folk Festival as well! 🎪

We've got pub nights with Icknield Way Morris Men, Mason's Apron Morris, and Mr Hemmings Traditional Abingdon Morris Dancers, and are joining Mr Hemmings for Summertown at Mr Hemmings Day Abingdon on the 11th too! 🌞

We had a lovely time dancing in Abingdon at the weekend for the Election of the Mayor of Ock Street! Thank you to Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers for the invite, and it was lovely to see Oxford City and University Morris there too. 🐮

We're hiding from the heat this week, but will be back with two pub danceouts next week - on the 29th of June in Finstock, and the 1st of July in Sunningwell.

May may be out, but the morris season is only just beginning! We've got a few pub evenings this June with various of our friends, and are very excited to be joining Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers for their Mayor of Ock Street celebrations nearer the end of the month 🐮
