SEASONAL SUMMARY
The stats show a very small deficit in terms of losses and wins. As mentioned on numerous occasions on this site, the stats don't measure the levels of performance or the enjoyment and satisfaction achieved in lots of the fixtures that were closely fought and rewarding for the participants. Well done to all players, supporters and tea-makers!!
Pleased to report that no less than 33 different players represented the club in competitive games and 45 people attended club roll-up days.

Guestling 71 Rye 59

A successful and very enjoyable conclusion to the season at Rye on Sunday. After some inclement weather over the past few days, everything improved in time for this traditional closing fixture. The bowling was good all round on the day with all four triples closely fought. With both sides successful on two rinks it was good that the overall score worked in our favour. Well done to all involved today and to the significant numbers of members who played in matches during the season.

Guestling 56 Winchelsea 64

Another near-perfect day for bowls as the end of the season approaches quickly. Four very tight, well-fought games played in the best spirit with a welcome alfresco tea. Local knowledge was probably the vital factor on the day with little to separate the teams in any of the groups.

Guestling 53 Benenden 40

Another good result on a near-perfect late summer's day at Benenden. The green was patchy and worn in places but played reasonably well and everyone enjoyed the home made scones and cakes for tea. The winning margin looks quite comfortable on paper but things were much closer in reality with a couple of vital woods being played on the latter ends to ensure the win.

Guestling 65 Pett 62

A real nail-biter of a finish as Guestling secured the victory on the final end of the last triple to finish. Obviously an incredibly tight game throughout with everyone battling hard to help secure the win. It was yet another match that had a two games to each side result, but for once the overall score went in our favour. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon against our nearest neighbours in decent weather, apart from the wind.

END OF SEASON ARRANGEMENTS

Surprising as it may seem, the end of the season approaches.
Final roll ups will be held on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th September at 2pm as usual.
Fun Afternoon takes place on Thursday 10 September at 2pm.
It would be good to see as many members as possible at these events to round off a memorable and enjoyable season.
Greens will be closed after the last date mentioned with maintenance work getting under way. However there are a few away games over the next few weeks to complete the season.

Guestling 61 Westfield 73

Two winning triples and two losing ones but outgunned in terms of overall score on a pleasant afternoon as the end of the season approaches. Some good performances as several players found themselves playing in unusual positions in the team. The weather was kind and the rain held off until the very last end. Really friendly game played in good spirits.
Special thanks to those who stepped in late in the day to fill in and complete the team.

Guestling 77 Hollington 45

The completion of a historic double over strong opposition on a pleasant afternoon at home. The welcome overnight rain helped give a reminder of why we use the term "greens"! The outcome was that playing was much more enjoyable than on the dry earth of the last few weeks. Shirley commented in her WhatsApp post on the strong performances throughout the team and this must count as one of the best performances of the season. Well done everyone.
