Lewis Swaney ⚽️

We travelled down to Greenlaw today in a confident mood to get the 3 points.
We started the game really well and dominated possession for the first part of the half, our first chance fell to Swaney who played a great one two and then just lifted his shot over their goal.

Another chance for Swaney again this time an excellent cross came in and he connected with it but somehow their keeper managed to stop a certain goal from being scored.

It was all happening now with our relentless attacks and Swaney beat the offside trap to then place it around the keeper but he stuck his leg out this time to stop another great chance.

But just when we thought our luck was not going to be happening today Finlay McKechnie won possession and put in a good cross for Lewis Swaney who jumped up and timed his header perfectly to loop it over their keeper to make it 0-1 and get us into a well deserved lead.

HT 0-1.

Second half we knew Greenlaw would try everything to get back into the game, constant long balls with long throw ins and corners we’re testing our back line but with debutant Michael Sanderson in goals today he dealt very well with all their aerial threat.

A feisty game was now being played and we lost our shape a bit and our football was disrupted with strong challenges going in. We had to really concentrate on our jobs and tried hard to keep the ball.

We got some subs on to help us and hoped more energy would find us that second goal we badly needed, we had a few more chances but we couldn’t find the finish we all wanted to wrap up the game.

A nervy end to a game which on another day we could have easily have had 5 goals in the first half but their keeper was outstanding between the sticks for them!

A good 3 points on the road again and another confidence builder for the squad 👏🏻
