1️⃣ A torch you can actually rely on. Not "there's one in the bag somewhere" — check it's charged and works before you need it. Ours is 3000 lumens, waterproof, USB rechargeable, and small enough to forget about until you can't.

2️⃣ One more layer than you think you'll need. Six o'clock in September isn't six o'clock in July.
