We have just received the incredibly exciting news that The Ultimate Boat Company has been shortlisted for the Environmental Initiative Award at the Metstrade 2021 Boat Builder Awards sponsored by Confindustria Nautica.

Over the last eighteen months, we have been working closely with ExoTechnologies and their breakthrough composite material of exceptional strength capable of being recovered, recycled and reused repeatedly called DANU™ to develop a solution for the maritime industry. This solution is called ExoMarine™.

ExoMarine™ represents a ‘fit for purpose’ and viable solution in response to this global ecological crisis by providing an accelerated green transition to a circular economy for the maritime industry.

Our development project has created a full-scope “pathway” for boat manufacturers using conventionally infused composite material to rapidly transition to ExoMarine™ without the requirement for extra investment in production methods or resulting in a material increase in the cost price of the end product.

EXCLUSIVE: UBC Hull Technology

In this ‘in-depth’ interview with John Moxham, filmed at the Southampton Boat Show in September 2021, our internationally renowned chief designer explains how our revolutionary hull technology fundamentally redefines the way a planing hull interacts with the water.

John shares his perspectives on the fluid dynamic principles conceived during the development of the XB70 Valkyrie high-altitude bomber to reimagine hull technology and hydrodynamic performance. His patented ‘golden ratio’ and passive hydrodynamic performance modification system were developed to ensure that every craft is intelligently designed for its specific purpose.

By modifying, and then manipulating waterflow beneath the craft hydraulic lift is generated. It also produces better quality waterflow across the propellers increasing grip which provides superior manoeuvrability and tighter turning with little loss of speed. Its major practical advantage is the helm’s ability to easily maintain a constant visual on the horizon through its linear transition onto the plane which is derived by mitigating stern squat and associated bow lift.

In addition, this craft has a substantially lower attack angle to conventional hulls and its 25 degree deadrise means that it will slice through rough water without launching and limited slamming. Overall, it results in an exceptional hull with intuitive handling, exceptional seakeeping and directional stability.

It’s been a busy few days so far at the Southampton Boat Show and as part of the world launch of our new O-CLASS and X-CLASS we were proud to welcome on board Ian Cooke, President of British Marine and Cllr Daniel Fitzhenry, who enjoyed meeting our Southampton-based designer, John Moxham and experiencing the unique capabilities of our high-performance hull.
