‼️ CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT ‼️

We are very sad to announce that this week sees the end of Rutherglen Ladies Football Club as we are no longer able to gather a squad for the remainder of the season.

We would like to thank every person who has been involved with the club over the past 11 years since we started. Everyone has played their part whether it be as a player, coach, committee member or parent. All of your support has helped the club grow and hasn’t gone unnoticed.

We’ve had a lot more good days than bad and this season especially has seen our ladies play some of their best football and have some of their best results ever.

A big thanks goes to all of the teams we have played against over the years, we’ve enjoyed the challenges that we’ve faced along the way.

The biggest thanks of all goes to Brian, the club would never have become what it was without his determination to give all the girls and ladies a supportive environment where they could develop themselves not only as players but as people too.

We hope everyone is happy and healthy in the future, and we’ll always have the best memories from our time together at Rutherglen.

All the best everyone 💚

We travelled to Stewarton for a friendly match before the mid season break. We started the game really well, a lot of good football on show but we just couldn’t convert our possession into goals although we did hit the crossbar twice in the first half. We were under pressure a couple of times from Stewarton but dealt with everything that came our way.

Half time: Stewarton 0️⃣ - 0️⃣ Rutherglen

We started the second half similar to the first playing good football. It was through that we got our opening goal 3 minutes into the half when Caitlin fed the ball to Robyn 22 yards from goal, she unleashed the ball high passed the keeper into the net. We doubled our lead in the 72nd minute when Hayley collected the ball and released Demi just inside the box to bury a right foot shot low by the keeper. We scored our third in the 80th minute after some brilliant football, the ball was passed to Caitlin 20 yards from goal where she cracked a shot into the roof of the net. We rounded off the scoring with a fourth goal in the 86th minute with a corner from Cara which allowed Megan to smash a volley into the far corner.

Full time: Stewarton 0️⃣ - 4️⃣ Rutherglen

A brilliant performance by the ladies in what was a very competitive friendly. Thanks to Stewarton for inviting us down, they made us work very hard for the win 😊

Last league game before the summer break for the ladies last Sunday. The game began with a tremendous tempo in severe heat with both teams trying to knock the ball about. We took the lead in the 15th minute after Sophie released Cara down the right to cut the ball low across the box where the Muireston defender smashed the ball into her own net in an attempt to clear it. We doubled our lead in the 23rd minute again after some good play through the midfield where Lucy played the ball through for Robyn to round the keeper and side foot the ball home. It was end to end for the rest of the first half but no further goals.

Half time: Murieston 0️⃣ - 2️⃣ Rutherglen

Murieston came out strong at the start of the second half and were on top for the first 15 minutes, only a good save from Kerryl prevented them from scoring. We continued to play our football but didn’t manage to grab a third goal until the 84th minute after some good link up play in which Lucy played the ball across the 6 yard box for Hayley to side foot into the net. Several more chances came and went, but a brilliant one handed save from Kerryl kept a clean sheet for us.

Full time: Murieston 0️⃣ - 3️⃣ Rutherglen

A terrific 3 points for the ladies in very testing conditions, not an easy place to go and win. Strong performance from everyone, well done ladies 👏🏻 Good luck to Murieston for the rest of the season.

League action again for the ladies last weekend. We took around 20 minutes to get up to the pace of the game. Dunipace took the lead in the 27th minute. We kept at it and equalised in the 36th minute when a quick free kick from Rebecca allowed Robyn to beat the offside trap and guide the ball low by the goalkeeper.

Half time: Rutherglen 1️⃣ - 1️⃣ Dunipace

There wasn’t much between the teams but we managed to take the lead in the 64th minute when a clever pass from Hayley released Robyn on the right, her first shot hit the post but she tucked away the rebound from close range. Only a good double save from Kerryl at the end of the game kept the score line in our favour.

Full time: Rutherglen 2️⃣ - 1️⃣ Dunipace

A good 3 points for the ladies, we had to work hard for it. Considering the chances we had the game could’ve been a lot more comfortable for us but we obviously all see things differently. We also had 4 players missing and no goalkeeper. Well done ladies, fantastic effort 👏🏻⚽️

With no game this weekend our Ladies were invited down to Irvine for a midweek friendly against Clark Drive. Again we started well having a few efforts at goal before we took the lead in the 7th minute after a good press resulted in Lucy receiving the ball 25 yards out and hitting a brilliant shot over the keeper into the net. We scored again in the 15th minute after a good corner by Cara wasn't dealt with by Drive allowing Hayley to force the ball home from close range. Some good saves by the Drive keeper kept us out until the 40th minute when a good press allowed Robyn to control the ball at the edge of the box and chip the keeper for our 3rd goal.

Half time: Clark Drive 0️⃣ - 3️⃣ Rutherglen

Clark Drive came into the game in the second half and a few good saves kept them out until the 68th minute when they scored their goal. Chances at both ends after this but no more goals.

Full time: Clark Drive 1️⃣ - 3️⃣ Rutherglen

A really good workout for the Ladies with some good goals and football on show. Thanks to Clark Drive for hosting us. Well done everyone.

The Ladies were on league duty on Sunday away against Clydebank. We started on the front foot having several shots at goal mostly from distance but couldn't find the net. We eventually scored in the 27th minute after Loren was played through the middle and guided the ball past the advancing keeper.

Half time: Clydebank 0️⃣ - 1️⃣ Rutherglen

The second half was only a minute old when the Bankies equalised. We lost another goal in the last minute that won the game for Clydebank.

Full time: Clydebank 2️⃣ - 1️⃣ Rutherglen

Hard one to take after putting so much into the game but if you don't score when your on top sometimes you pay the price. Well done everyone involved for an entertaining game.

Another league game for the Ladies on Sunday at home against Central. We started really well playing some good football but just couldn't find the net. We eventually took the lead in the 23rd minute after another good move down the left, the ball was cut back to Megan who drilled a left foot shot into the net from 18 yards. We lost a goal 2 minutes later from a corner.

Half time: Rutherglen 1️⃣ - 1️⃣ Central

Central went ahead in the 62nd minute but we kept going and got a deserved equaliser in the 89th when Loren was first to react after both herself and the Central keeper hit the ground going for a 50/50 to poke the ball home from a few yards out.

Full time: Rutherglen 2️⃣ - 2️⃣ Central

Good even game of football with both teams having opportunities. Great effort again from the Ladies.
