Hello All,

I hope this finds everyone well and everyone enjoyed the October holidays as much as you can through this crazy time.

With time pushing on and with the new restrictions now in place, things aren’t currently looking great, in particular for contact sports such as Judo. We are very keen to try and get you all doing some sort of exercise that will enhance your Judo skills, ready for when it does return.

As some of you may know, as well as taking over Active Judo, I am also the founder and CEO of Movement Park. Movement Park is a local charity, based in a converted warehouse in Whiteinch, Glasgow, and is an innovative multi-activity facility, that uses movement-based activities to build confidence and competence for all ages.

I hope this finds everyone well and you are enjoying the October holidays as much as you can through this crazy time. time, improving your skills, ahead of returning to the Judo mat. Due to the restrictions in place, our programme is slightly different, however, it does allow members to participate in Parkour, Skateboarding, and Ninja movement sessions 7 days a week! All these sessions will help with your skills, including balance, coordination, and strength, on and off the Judo mat.

We have attached the current programme for you below, and there is also information available on the website http://www.movementpark.org.uk . Please let us know if this is something that appeals to you, as we would like to take this opportunity to get to know you as much as possible before we return to the Judo mat.

Many thanks, and we hope to see you soon.

Stephen

Great news!

Following the Scottish Government’s announcement, we have a clear route back onto the mat and to getting our clubs up and running again. It's been some time and we know you're all excited to get back to judo.

We’re updating our phased return plan now and will be back in touch in the coming days with more info.

David’s half marathon timings.

Please if you haven’t donated and your able to go to the link in the previous post and support the cause.

20/05/2020

Hey everyone, So....he did it!

Today coach David completed his half marathon.

Here’s what he had to say:

“Thank you to everyone who donated to my page. Today was really tough! I challenged myself to run a half marathon despite only ever managing 10k before now (under half of this!).

I knew it would be tough, I’m not a great runner but I am able to work hard and push myself through dark places. I knew I had to do it for everyone supporting me.

We’re living in difficult times right now and though most of our global efforts are going to learn fighting covid-19, and helping those affected by it, I wanted to stick to my pledge.

I lost 2 family members to cancer in the last year and know so many others who have experienced similar tragedies and wanted to do my part. I knew this was well out of my comfort zone but with the support of family (support runner ) and friends today I completed my goal, exceeding my own expectations along the way.

I’m so grateful for those who have already donated to my page but please, if you can, donate as much as you’re able to as this is still such a prevalent disease in our world, taking the lives of so many great and gifted people. It’s affected my family closely and I want to do my bit to raise funds to change this!

If I get over £1000 I will take this to the next level and run a full marathon!!!

Please support!

The world has ground to a halt because of covid-19 and it needs everyone to chip in what they can to get us through. None more than our charities. Please find the time to raise funds for and/or donate to your chosen charities by going to the 2.6 website (www.twopointsixchallenge.co.uk) and help save the uk’s charities.

We are asking our members to perform either 26, 260 or 2600 shadow uchikomi in support and raise as much funds as possible.

David will be doing his 2600 uchikomi tomorrow as a show of solidarity in these tough times....will you join him?

24/03/2020

Remember to join our members only 'quarantraining' group to enjoy all of the online content from our weekly planner. We will have new content every day as well as challenges, tasks and a live online judo session every Friday via zoom! We hope you enjoy all of the stuff we're putting together for you. Can't wait to catch up on Friday and keep the kids busy with half an hour of training, skill games and loads of laughs!

Stay safe and see you then

24/03/2020

Really enjoying filming all this stuff for the online content. Make sure you get over to our “quarantraining” group page and join in the sessions!

Congratulations to everyone who competed at the Scottish national championships.

Lucas took a hard fought silver medal. Well deserved, we’re very proud.

Congrats also to Giovanni and Milly who both had a hard day.

Milly moved up an age group and weight on the day so it was her first experience at this new class so lots learned for next time.

Giovanni came away with a 5th winning one of his matches, again the first time for him fighting at this level of competition so he did extremely well.

Awesome work from everyone.
