Midweek Friendly Victory

A midweek friendly for Sparta ended in a 2-1 victory over FC Dynamo Carluke .

Sparta started brightly but found themselves behind with a scrambled goal, then two minutes later Gary Irwin fed a ball down the line to Ally Campbell who done brilliantly to hit the byline before putting a great cross into the box, where Greg Campbell was on hand to put the ball home and bring us level.

In the second half, Sparta won a corner and Gary Irwin’s delivery was met by a bullet header from Dave Gibson, giving Sparta the lead.

A good midweek run-out for the boys, with plenty of minutes in the legs and another valuable 90 minutes of football under our belts.

A big thank you to Dynamo Carluke for the game, and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season. 🤝

A week late, but here’s our match report from our opening league game.

A disappointing afternoon for Sparta as we fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Boness Utd Community FC

The boys gave everything, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to get the result we wanted. Plenty to learn from and plenty to work on as we look ahead to the next one.

Friday night under the lights at The Ibrox Complex.

We were up against a Clyde Apollo side that went unbeaten in their league last season, so we knew we'd be in for a tough test.

Sparta came away with a hard-fought 1–0 victory thanks to some heroic defending, outstanding saves from both of our goalkeepers, and a stunning 25-yard strike from the ever-reliable Michael Lieser. His effort clipped the underside of the bar on its way in, and that proved enough for T̶h̶i̶s̶t̶l̶e̶ Sparta to earn another positive pre-season result.

A brilliant workout against a top side as preparations continue for the new season.

We'd also like to wish everyone at Clyde Apollo the very best in the Premiership next season.
