Glasgow Slow Down

us having a chance to meander through their city at a different pace, going through areas both well known and newly discovered. As the date of Glasgow Slow Down approaches we would like to invite keen cyclists or new riders from all backgrounds and ages to register their interest in taking part. Please email [email protected] with the preferred muster point start for you and how many places you would like. Please be aware that places for the cycle teams are very limited and only cyclists pre-registered with Glasgow Slow Down will be allowed to participant in the drawing teams. We are keen to get lots of supporters so please do share news about the event to others who would like to wave, cheer and snap photos of the riders along the route and greet them at George Square at 10am where there will be music, novelty bikes and a chance to 'bling your bike' before a grand procession to a welcome breakfast at The Briggait.

*Important Details to consider before signing up*


• Cyclists will participate using their own bikes (some provision of bikes may be possible) confirmed to be roadworthy in advance of the event and will be asked to sign a disclaimer that they are participating in a group cycle on public roads, and feel confident to do this at their own.

• The event is unsuitable for children under the age of 10 unless they are in child seats/ tagalongs or sidecars fixed to an adult bike. Children over 10 may participate at their parent’s discretion, but they must be accompanied by an adult at all times and be able to confidently cycle for 5 miles on public roads.

• All participants will be provided with Hi-Vis vests (and there will be a prize for the best decorated!), and we would recommend that helmets are worn. They must arrive at the muster point no later than 8.30 AM for the fit up of their chalk contrail. They will be signed in by the Lead Steward and confirmed they are fit to participate. Cyclists will depart at 9.00 AM and they will be stewarded en route to George Square by 2 team leaders cycling alongside. All 100 riders converge at George Square from 10AM before they set off for the final procession route to The Briggait at 10.30 AM.

• Upon arrival at The Briggait there will be indoor and outdoor provision of off road storage for bikes. While these areas will be marshaled, cyclists leave their bikes at their own risk and are recommended to use bike chains or locks.

• A free breakfast buffet will be provided for all cyclists and supporters from 11AM at The Briggait, announcements and prizes will take place at 11.30am and there will also be a live DJ and a selection of information stalls until 1pm.
