Rothes Juniors FC 2016s

Super match today between two evenly matched teams. Some excellent football on show from both teams!

Despite the wind picking up just before kick off, the boys dealt with the conditions really well. We saw a some great goalkeeping, solid defending and spells of terrific passing and moving. It was a joy to see!

Today we were captained by Mason and the fair play award from the other team was awarded to Matthew M for his outstanding defending and control of the game from the back!

We are back to training on Tuesday then we will play the re-arranged game against Glenrothes Athletic on Thursday (details to follow)

A really tough game at Kennoway this morning. The pitch undoubtedly caught us out a bit with longer, damp grass which then led to frustrations. Running with the ball and passing proved to be much more challenging and didn't allow us to play our usual style.

We had a lot of the ball during the game which led to some decent chances including an absolute worldly from Mason!

Overall plenty of positives and a great game to watch.

Captained today by Eri and fair play award went to Mason.

We go again on Tuesday at home to Glenrothes Athletic.

A tough and physical visit to Lochgelly this evening! Despite the physical challenges, our boys continued to play their football, their way. Brilliant friendly match with another positive outcome for the team. As coaches, it’s heart-warming to see everything we practise in training being brought onto the pitch for games 💪🏻

On to Saturday, away to Kennoway. 10am ko.

A great wee visit down to Methil this morning.

A great experience for the boys to have the opportunity to play in a professional football stadium. The weather was surprisingly warm and certainly had an impact. However, the boys delivered a performance with lots of excellent play! Solid defensive work, hard working midfielders (tough in that heat) and fantastic finishing!

Big shout out to Cody who stepped in to play in goals, which is never easy!

Also, to Matthew M, who gained the fair play award from the opposition for terrific defending, some fancy turns (not the greatest for my blood pressure…) and real determination throughout!

Challenging game against AM Soccer this morning! Particularly when a few were nursing coughs and colds. Lots of great performances but we seemed to tire in the second half.

Captain today was Alfie, who was quite simply outstanding in goals and also received the fair play award from the other side!

We met Auchtermuchty today at their home ground. Yet another entertaining game this morning!

Unusually, a slow start for us before getting ourselves back into the game before half-time. Then a goal blitz after half-time boosted the confidence of all and we ended with another positive result!

Captain today was Matthew Murray and the fair play award went to Adriel.

🔴🔵 Another Saturday and another entertaining game from our 2016 squad.

Today we were welcomed by The Young Glens, who provided a tough and physical test to which our boys stood up well and again came away with a positive result ⚽️

The first goal we scored epitomised everything we are trying to encourage. Good defending from the opponent’s throw-in, won the ball, moved forward and through the pitch with decisive passing/dribbling before laying off for an excellent finish 👏

We are also exceptionally proud of how the boys conducted themselves through the minutes silence to remember Archie Sinclair, a member of our opponents 2013 team who sadly passed away this week. They all showed empathy and respect. 💚
