Operating as usual

I’ve had my entry confirmed for the demonstration rally stage at Race Retro!
I can’t wait. Stoneleigh Park was where I got my first taste of rallying back in 2003 when I took part in the Junior Ford Rallye Academy!
My first attempt was in a custom Ford Rallysport Trainer, this time I’ll be back in my Vauxhall Nova 😃. Let the fun begin!

to . Proof that the old girl can still get airborne.

And the planning starts again, only 11 months to go 🙈.

What a great day at Rallyday to send away this year of events. It was nice to be able to take family out in the silly seat as they’ve helped me so much to get out and compete this year!
Shame about the wing. Speed was ok, chicane was just a bit tight. At least I’ve got a plenty of time to get it sorted.
Into hibernation she goes.

The Hoosier Racing Tire’s are still looking great and ready for some more action. See you soon Rallyday 👍🏼

I’m looking forward to firing up the Nova for the last time this year!
Here is a site map for Saturday's event. For full info, please check out our souvenir programme, available upon entry!

This is a brilliant move for clubman motorsport! I wish they’d done it 10 years ago but we can let that go.

New rules for towing a trailer or caravan with a car from autumn 2021 There will be new rules about towing a trailer or caravan with a car later in 2021. Find out how the changes affect you.
Our next outing 😄.

What a great weekend we’ve had at Hills Ford Three Shires Stages! Getting to race around roads within miles of your home is something quite special.
I’ve been keen to rally for years but the time just hasn’t been right until now. I started preparing for this event in early 2019 when I heard there was going to be a local closed road rally, it was the reason I got my rally licence and bought the Nova. I wasn’t ready in time for the 2019 event and unfortunately 2020 was cancelled due to Covid so it was a long wait before getting out!
Driving into the opening ceremony on Saturday night and seeing Ledbury lined with spectators created a great atmosphere to the event, especially after such a long time of everyone being locked away.
We started off on SS1 with confidence and caught the 30 second gap with the car in front within the first half of the stage, but then there was an accident stopping us 3/4 of the way through. We thought we’d be waiting a while so I flicked the start/stop switch off, and it broke shorting out the ignition 😳. Fortunately we had some basic tools and managed to remove the start panel and bypass the switch, panic over.
SS2 was then cancelled because of another accident so the first stage we completed was SS3.
The remainder of the first loop and start of the second loop was a huge learning curve for both Ifan Devine and I as it was our first pace notes event. Ifan’s notes were spot on but it took a while for me to get the feeling of what speed we could take each note at, by the afternoon I was starting to drive to the pace notes rather than trying to read the road.
The stages had a great mix of fast flowing corners and complicated slow sections.
Hoosier Racing Tire’s stuck to the road well and look great on the car! They’ve even got enough grip to see us through Rallyday at Castle Combe on 25th September 😊.
Vital Equipment Limited did a great job of keeping the Nova fuelled throughout the day, it’s so much easier than lugging around Jerry cans!
There were 146 starters, 88 finishers and we were 67th. Our times were ok but I need to build up more confidence in driving on notes so I can carry more corner speed which is so important in the little 1600.
Thanks to the organisers, medics, recovery, competitors and locals who lined the routes waving and clapping. A massive thanks to all friends and family who came to support 😊.
Bring on next year! Hopefully more closed road events to follow.

We’re just about to head out to SS1 and are sporting some new Hoosier Racing Tire’s, they look smart but let’s see how well they grip!

Here we go!

The seeded entry is out for and we’re number 129 (https://www.rallies.info/webentry/2021/threeshires/entries.php?type=s).
We’ll be going over the start ramp in Ledbury at around 8pm on Saturday 4th and will be starting SS1 at around 9:30am on Sunday 5th 👍🏼. Bring on the stages.

Is anyone else going to Rallyday? I booked the rally stage and some extra track time yesterday!

Inaugural Rallye Prescott announced!
It’s time for the exhaust notes of rally cars to ring through the trees at Prescott Hill once again, as Rallye Prescott is announced for Sunday 3rd October, the last event on the hill for 2021.
Rallying, despite being strongly associated with Welsh forests and mud, has a firm place in the history of Prescott Speed Hill Climb, with the hill having hosted the RAC Rally several times throughout the 1950’s. October 3rd 2021 will see the hill and Bugatti Owners Club (owners and operators of Prescott Hill Climb) pay tribute to the awe-inspiring sport of rallying, its drivers, its co-drivers and obviously the cars.
The event will feature rally cars from the early 1950’s right up to modern day machinery, taking to the hill in tribute to their predecessors from times of past, as a fully timed competitive event. The classes and paddock will be split into decades, allowing visitors to quite literally ‘walk through time’ for the history of rallying.
Already confirmed to attend Rallye Prescott is the Austin A40 driven by internationally famous female rally driver Pat Moss and co-driver Ann Wisdom on the 1959 Rally Monte Carlo. The pair eventually took the car to win the Ladies Trophy and placed 10th overall on this widely respected event, finishing just behind George Parkes and Philip Wilson in their Jaguar Mark II’s.
Entries are now invited for the inaugural Rallye Prescott, with classes suitable for rally cars of all eras, from pre-1950’s to modern day. Entry fees start at only £140 for Bugatti Owners’ Club Members or £160 for members of invited clubs, which includes iconic rallying clubs, such as HRCR, BTRDA and the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club. The event will run on a Motorsport UK Hill Climb permit, which sadly means, co-drivers will not be able to take to the hill. Regardless of this, Motorsport UK Rally Competition Licenses will be valid for all drivers taking part.
Spectator tickets for this event are now available to purchase online through the Prescott Speed Hill Climb website, at £15 per person or free of charge for BOC members, with under 16s free.

The old girl’s had some TLC at Loveridge's in Cinderford today. MOT and spanner check ✅
If you need anything done I’d definitely recommend getting in touch with Steve…

The unseeded entry list is out for Hills Ford Three Shires Stages and we’ve got a run 😄.
