Hucclecote Ladies RFC

Dear Hucclecote Ladies RFC,

I'm posting on here in order to re-share information about new research I'm conducting at the University of Bath in order to give anyone the opportunity who may have missed taking part in the first place. The survey will be closing this week so this will be the last chance for anyone to share their experiences.

If you menstruate, currently play 15-a-side rugby union, or have played rugby within the past year in England, are aged 18 or above, and pre-menopausal you're eligible to participate in this survey.

I welcome responses from all women who play rugby – not just those who feel they might have an issue with their menstrual cycle.

The aim is to determine the prevalence of heavy menstrual bleeding in this context, whether this relates to a perceived disruption to rugby training and performance, and how so.

The anonymous survey can be accessed below and will take no longer than 10 minutes to complete online.

If you would like more details, please contact me on [email protected].

Thank you to those who have participated already.

Many thanks,

Megan Watts

Dear Hucclecote Ladies RFC,

I’m a retired rugby player carrying out my Masters of Research (MRes) degree at the University of Bath. I am conducting new research on The Prevalence and Experiences of Heavy Menstrual Bleeding among Women Rugby Players: a sequential explanatory mixed-methods study.

I’m looking for participants who regularly menstruate, currently play 15-a-side rugby union, or have played rugby within the past year in England, are aged 18 or above, and pre-menopausal to complete the below anonymous survey. I welcome responses from all women who play rugby – not just those who feel they might have an issue with their menstrual cycle. The purpose of this research is to determine the prevalence of heavy menstrual bleeding in this context before exploring why this may occur and, if necessary, what can be put in place to reduce this impact.

The anonymous survey can be accessed below and will take no longer than 10 minutes to complete online.

If you would like more details, please contact me on [email protected]

All the best,

Megan Watts

Can anyone help out coaching the girls this morning at the club? . I'm desperate. Other coach unable to make it and Dan is on his own and doesn't feel confident. Thank you.
Well done girls πŸ‘πŸ‘ πŸ‰
Evening ladies- your friendly neighbourhood ref here!

Just wanted to remind anyone who was interested that there is an opportunity to do the referee course ERRA on 1st & 8th Feb at Civil Service in Cheltenham.

It doesn’t often happen on Saturdays, so this is a really great opportunity to learn how refs ref (and therefore how best to cheat?!*) even if you aren’t planning on refereeing immediately.

If you did want to have a proper go at refereeing you’d get a warm welcome at the society as well. Get in touch if you’ve got any questions. More female refs needed please, we’re in short supply!

*not that you’d ever cheat, obviously...
Thanks to Jess and all the ladies for allowing me to observe the training session this evening whilst I gain experience to help with coaching the Hucclecote Girls. Here’s a short clip of the Tug of War....interesting tactics πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. See you all again soon πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‰πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‰
Would any of the Hucclecote Ladies like to join the girls Rugby team for a fun session at Painswick on Sunday morning? A fun and friendly end to the season. If any of you would like to join us from 10:00 you'd be more than welcome 😁
Just send me a DM to let me know. Thank you.
H xx

Saturdays game was our last one of the season, but that doesn't make it any less brilliant.

The sun came out to greet us whislt we played on Saturday. Unfortunately Greyhound ladies couldn't field a team of 15 and brought 11 friendly players with them. Therefore they gave Hucclecote Ladies the win.
Yet, we all still wanted to play a game of rugby in the sunshine. We dropped flankers and two players from Hucclecote ladies graciously gave some game time to Greyhounds.
Although it wasn't plain sailing, a few moments into the second half the ref got a hamstring injury. Meaning we turned to our hero of the day Danksy, thank you for stepping up to help us out Danksy. Not all heros wear capes, some run around a rugby pitch with a whistle instead.

Final Score: Hucclecote Ladies win.

Player of the match awarded to Judith.
Player of the match awarded to Jess.
Player of the match awarded to Kathryn.
Player of the match awarded to Maddie.
And dick of the day awarded to Bea.

And that concludes the league season. We finished second and we are absolutely over the moon with this. This season we have worked so hard as a team, pulled together a full squad for each game and given it our all. We are very proud to be Hucclecote Ladies and we thank you all for your support.

See you in the summer .... did someone say tournament? πŸ˜‰
