I'm going to start off by saying , it was all Tom Driver's fault! π€£
So after a last minute decision and rush after harassment from Driver , I decided to fish the Harescombe Fisheries open match.
Started off with a cracking breakfast as always and a chat with the lads where I specifically said " I don't want peg 29 " . Guess what I went and drew - peg 29 π€¦ββοΈ.
Anyway, long story short I've set up 4 Cadence cp1000 topkits and pole , one to the island at 14.5m , one to the trees at 13m, down the edge and a top 2+2 , plus a 9ft method to fish up the channel into the cut out.
Started off dobbing but , Well it was mega slow , I'd not had a single bite for 1 hour 45 minutes on any of the lines and the water was proper cold.
After 2 hours I decided to concentrate on one line and try and make it work as the island swim was a bit of a no go as someone was fishing the method to it and the wind and current from the water coming down the waterfall made it difficult to present the bait properly..
I Managed to string a few bites together after a while but then the rain started and the water/peg just turned into one big whirlpool and the swim would just die .
Still plodded on and I ended up down the edge most of the day out of the flow , hooking 8 carp and landing 6 for 28lb 4oz for 3rd place overall and some penny in the back pocket.
Well done to Allan taking the win from peg 10 with 47lb and a very close 2nd place for Tom with 45lb .
Tomorrow's match - Pete's lake at Tirley court as long as I don't get called out to work tonight ππ

Today's match was The annual teams of 4 on the lovely Lydney lake in Lydney, Gloucestershire.
Our team of 4 consisted of , myself, Paul Chaffey , Seb Merritt and Tom Smith .
Myself on peg 37
Paul on peg 16
Tom on peg 2
Seb on peg 25.
So, for my part of the match I've setup 4 cr10 feeder rods from a 10ft No1 to a 12ft no3 - feeding 3 lines , 12m , 30m and a long throw to the island at about 67m.
Started long without a single indication so I've dropped back on the 30m line after having a few perch I've landed a good bream and then the pike decided to crash the swim hooking 3 and landing one , Paul on the next peg also had a good sized pike just after , the 30m line died so I've dropped. On the 12m line picking up Roach and Rudd - again I think a pike took a liking as the rod went solid again .
With 25 minutes to go and not much happening I went for the all or nothing , 3 feeder fulls of bait went out followed by 3 large red worms and then back out onto the 30m line and sat on it. Then with 5 minutes to go, the rod folds in half and I'm hanging on to it with a rather large angry carp attached to my skimmer rod on a size 14 hook to a 0.14 hooklength lol at this point all that is going through my mind is - seeing des shipp losing that carp in yesterday's feedermaster π€¦ββοΈ.
Long story short after a very good battle I've managed to land a 15lb 6oz lump boosting my overall weight to around 22lb ππ
The word was coming through that our whole team did well , Tom, with 47+lb , seb with 50+lb I think, Paul with 12lb and my 22lb. With a combination of points we've totaled 24 points out of 28 and winning the teams of 4 ππ
Absolute brilliant day and absolutely made up with the result and an outstanding team performance.
Well done guys, same again next year.
