Good footwork is the foundation of everything in boxing.

And it comes down to one simple rule.

Always lead with the foot closest to the direction you want to go.

Moving forward, left foot leads. Moving back, right foot leads.

And always work in half steps.

Here is why that matters.

If your feet come together at any point you are off balance and completely vulnerable.

That is the moment you get hurt.

Think of it as extend then correct.

Left foot moves a little, right foot matches it. Always returning back to a solid, balanced stance.

Almost like you are crabbing across the floor.

It feels awkward at first.

But once it clicks, your whole boxing changes.

Because when your footwork is right, everything else becomes easier.

Your punches land cleaner. Your defence is sharper. You are always in a position to attack or get out of danger.

Footwork is not the glamorous part of boxing.

But it is the part that separates fighters who look good from fighters who actually are good. 💪

Beginner to fighter in 2 months.

Ian was a busy chef working long hours, dealing with constant stress, and feeling like he was just living to work rather than working to live.

He signed up with one goal.

To find out what he was actually capable of.

He was feeling every bit of his age and more.

Like a man well beyond his years rather than someone in his prime.

Two months later he was standing in a ring in front of around 100 people putting on a performance that turned heads.

Competing with guys who had been boxing for years.

Here is what two months of committing to himself delivered:
- Went from zero training to fight ready
- Dropped a significant amount of weight
- Built real strength
- Walked into a ring in front of 100 people and delivered
- And he did all of this around one of the most demanding jobs there is.
- Long shifts. High stress. A schedule that most people would use as an excuse.
Ian used it as a reason.

Because when you find the right environment and the right coach, two months is enough to completely change how you feel about yourself.

That is what this place does. 💪

The environment you put yourself in will either build you or hold you back.

There is no middle ground.

When I started training seriously, something shifted. Not just physically but in the people I was attracting and the people I was choosing to spend time with.

Because confident, driven people gravitate toward each other.

And so do people who are going nowhere.

At some point I had to make a decision that felt uncomfortable at the time.

Walk away from the version of my life that was keeping me small.

The nights out that led nowhere. The people who laughed at my ambitions. The habits that were quietly killing my potential.

Not because those people were bad people.

But because I knew that who you spend your time with shapes who you become.

The gym gave me more than fitness.

It gave me a standard to hold myself to.

A community of people who were showing up, working hard and backing themselves every single day.

That changes you from the inside out.

If you want to become a different version of yourself, start by changing what you do every day and who you do it with. 💪

Your front hand is one of the most underused weapons in boxing.

Most people throw it and pull it straight back.

But used correctly it does something far more valuable than land a punch.
It confuses your opponent.

In this clip we are working on using the left hand to gesture, probe and disguise your intentions.

Here is why it works:

If your hands are glued to your face and you are doing nothing with them, you are easy to read.

You become a target. Predictable. A punch bag.

But the moment you start moving that front hand, extending it, gesturing with it, your opponent has a problem.

They cannot tell when the real punch is coming.

Is it a jab? Is it a feint? Are you setting something up?

That split second of confusion is exactly what you are looking for.

A few things we are drilling here:

Keep the right hand up at all times
Use the left hand long and actively
Gesture to create doubt in your opponent's mind
Breathe out with every punch, it will feel unnatural at first but it makes a real difference
Make yourself unpredictable

The punch that lands is rarely the one your opponent saw coming.

It is the one they were not sure about. 💪

A lot of people think they need more information.

A better plan.
A better workout.
One good session.

Usually, they already know enough to get started.

What they actually need is consistency long enough for their standards, habits, confidence, and identity to change.

That’s the hard part.

Anyone can feel motivated for a day.

Very few people can keep showing up when life gets stressful, motivation drops, and nobody’s watching.

That’s why environment matters.
That’s why accountability matters.
That’s why coaching matters.

A lot of people sowly drift away from themselves without even realising it.

More work.
More responsibility.
More pressure.

And eventually their health, confidence, energy, and identity become something they’ll “get back to later"

The problem is… later rarely comes on its own.

Life doesn’t suddenly become stress-free.
There’s always another busy period.

At some point, training has to become part of how you handle life…
not something you only do when life feels easy.

That’s one of the biggest mindset shifts I see people make when they start boxing and training consistently.

Not perfection or motivation.

Just learning how to stay connected to yourself even during difficult seasons.

Box&Build isn’t built around packed classes and just “getting a sweat on”

Everything here is coached.

Whether someone’s doing 1-1 sessions or training in a small group, the goal is to help people genuinely improve...

Learn boxing properly, get fitter, get stronger, and build confidence in the process.

It’s a more personal environment, with more attention to detail, and that’s exactly how we want to keep it.
