This morning we were gifted an incredible sunrise during my yoga session with Royal Scotsman 🌞

For almost 25 years, daily, I've bowed my head and brought my hands to prayer, honouring the light within me and around me.

The gesture is small, but the teaching is endless.

Light was never meant to stay the same, it moves, shifts and changes shape. And still, somewhere it remains.

A word I'm leaning into: viveka.

It means discernment. In the yogic tradition, it is the wisdom to distinguish between the enduring essence of who we are and the ever-changing experiences of life. Today, it can also invite us to listen more closely to what we truly need.

Not every season asks for more effort, more striving, or another thing to add to the list. Some invite us to pause and ask:

Will this nourish me?

As autumn arrives and new routines take shape, viveka invites us to notice what supports us and what depletes us, and to choose where we place our precious time, energy, and attention.

And hopefully, one answer is yoga :)

I'm delighted to share our September & October timetable, including some wonderful new teachers and new opportunities to practise.

Lost for words because my heart has grown 500 X bigger. This retreat has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life - I'm so grateful to these beautiful people for trusting me with their time, practice and hearts.

Love you Amanda, Sophie, Rita, Marion, Freda and Sarah. Our paths will stay connected.

I could not do these retreats without friend and AMAZING chef . Kate nourishes more than our bellies, she is the heart of our RETURN retreats. Grateful to know you, grateful to work with you 👑

Incredibly grateful to for an exceptional day sea kayaking. His knowledge, passion and care is unparalleled.

And of course Gus, Izzie, Billy and the entire team at ❤️ you make this place what it is - you are an exceptional group of people and I can't wait to return. Thank you endlessly for your support.

Retreat season is now finished for me this year, while a wee bit tired, I feel more compelled than ever to continue gathering people. Let's human more, together.

Look after yourself, your loved ones, your planet. It matters.

Placing a song over the experience cheapened it, so enjoy the raw retreat sounds.

Losing interest

When I feel myself losing interest, pulling away, going quiet, I no longer worry, I know the path back.

For I know I've spent too much time on things that leave me fragmented. Things that require passwords, logins, metrics, likes, tracking, notifications, optimisation argh.

I guided a Forest Bathing session the other day and watched an ant for about 30 minutes carry a very little twig across the earth. Nothing dramatic, just one small creature doing a creature thing. And a wakefulness rose in me, a presence, a love for everything around me.

It occurred to me that I usually teach Dharana (concentration) as discipline. It takes discipline to train the mind to focus. But what if it were less about discipline and effort and more about affection? Focusing our attention on one thing, without distraction is Loving what's here in front of us and leaves us in a state of union, connection, oneness, affectionate towards the world.

If you ever feel like you're losing interest, turn towards a relationship, person, your body, your breath, a project, art, food, the natural world, something real that you can touch, taste, smell and hold and devote yourself to it for however long you can and see that this is how we come back to wholeness.
