Here’s the thing about goal addiction:

It tricks your brain into chasing anything that gives you a quick hit.

Even if it doesn’t mean a damn thing to you.
You forget to ask, “Do I even care about this?”

You just need the next win. The next pat on the head.

The cure: look for joy, acknowledge the progress, and enjoy the process.

Now, instead of asking “What do you want to achieve?”
I ask my clients, “What do you want to experience?”

It’s a game changer.
What’s something you do just because you love doing it?
Not because it leads anywhere.

Just because it feels good.

How I escaped survival mode after 20+ years in a dream jobs

Here’s what I learned after years of letting my inner boss drive.

One of my clients said last week:

“I should just be grateful for what I have.”
And just like that, I heard the voice I know too well.

That voice that whispers, “Don’t rock the boat.”
That rational-sounding nonsense dressed up as wisdom.

We all have one…

That voice that runs on fight-flight-freeze responses, telling us to
stay safe and avoid risk. It’s the reptilian part of our brain that hijacks rational thinking
in split seconds.

Your inner boss sounds like this:
→ “You should be grateful - others would kill for your”
→ “You can’t leave now - what about your mortgage/kids/reputation?”
→ “You’re being ridiculous - this is just a phase.”
→ “You don& #39;t know how good you have it.”

Here’s what I learned after years of letting my inner boss drive:

It’s not trying to help you thrive.

It’s trying to help you survive.

But survival mode is no way to build a career you love.
Taking calculated risks is where growth happens.
That’s the space where we can find things that excite us.

The woman who built your current success is brilliant.
But you are not her anymore…

Your needs and aspirations have changed.
