⚽️ SEASON OPENER – LINCOLNSHIRE vs YORKSHIRE DERBY ⚽️

Today we entertained Rotherham Schools District in our first game of the season, and what a game it was! 👊

We came flying out of the blocks and raced into a 2 goal lead, with two great strikes from the deadly Kenzie 🔥

We were excellent for the first 15 minutes of the opening quarter, but perhaps things started to feel a little too easy. Rotherham responded with a long range effort to get themselves back into the game.

The next two 20 minute periods were a battle royal with chances at both ends and neither team willing to give an inch. Kenzie managed to add to our tally but Rotherham continued to make us work for everything.

Going into the final 20, I told the boys how hard they had worked and that these are the types of games where it can feel end-to-end and nothing ever seems to settle down. But credit to both teams for refusing to lie down and continuing to battle 👏

We then smashed two quick goals in through Kenzie and I thought that’s it surely we can settle down now! 😂

But no chance! Rotherham came back again with a couple more goals before Kienan finished things off with a fantastic goal to make it 6–3. ⚽️🔥

Well done to all the lads! A frantic, entertaining and hard-fought Lincolnshire vs Yorkshire derby 👊👊

What a way to start the season! 💪⚽️ ‎

🦉 JPL CUP — THROUGH TO THE DRAW! 🦉

Today we entertained Wombwell Main from the Barnsley area in our final group game of the JPL Cup.

A victory meant we would go into the draw alongside some big names, including Tranmere Rovers, Salford City, Rochdale and York City so there was plenty to play for.

We dominated the opening 20 minutes but although we were on top we weren’t quite finding our usual fluid football. The first quarter ended 1-1 with Kienan finishing well 👏🏼

I told the boys not to panic and to play more direct to stretch Wombwell out of their comfort zone. Once we did that the football started to flow.

Goals from Kenzie and Sonny put us in control before Kenzie added two more to make it 5-1.

We could easily have added more but Wombwell’s keeper made some excellent saves. They showed plenty of heart right until the end scoring two late consolation goals to make it 5-3.

I couldn’t be anything but positive at the final whistle. The boys showed great character and adapted to what was asked of them and got the result we needed.

This team will go from strength to strength if that desire and attitude stay the same and I’m confident they will. 💪🦉

Now we roll into the first league game next week at The Linden, with a local derby against 780 from Scunny.

You’ll Never Fly Alone. 🦉🦉

WHAT A RESULT! 🔥⚽

Today we entertained AFC Guiseley in our second JPL Cup group game against another Premier League side who finished 4th last season.

In a thrilling battle, we ran out 5–2 winners! 👏👏

Guiseley are a genuinely good side and after about 10 minutes I was thinking “Ouch…” 😬 But the desire, effort and determination we showed kept us right in the game. The defence was absolutely solid and then the maverick Williams pops up with a brilliant lob… and suddenly the penny dropped.

We belong here. 💪

Then The Machine Kitt chipped in with a great second and we were flying.

Jamie “Vardy” Kenzie then chips a fantastic third and we’re really flying! 🚀

Guiseley came back at us and reduced the lead to 3–2. The final quarter belonged to us.

The Green Machine makes it 4–2! ⚡

Then big lad Ralphie “The Beast” absolutely smashes in a fifth, much to my delight and more importantly the boys delight! 💥 Every single player all 15 of them ran to celebrate that goal together ❤️

That tells you everything about this group. The togetherness, the desire and the belief are there for everyone to see.

Well done, all of you. Absolutely brilliant. 👏👏👏

One game to go.

Next week we take on Wombwell Main in the final group game.

A win puts us top and sends us into the JPL Cup knockout stages.

Bring it on. 💪⚽🔥

Today we played our first game in the JPL cup , we travelled to Yorkshire regional talent squad from Barnsley . An established jpl side . We had no idea what to expect . Our opponents. Passed the ball well at times and looked half decent , but our performance overpowered them in most parts , and we played some good attacking Football on the turnover of the ball going forward , We have tremendous pace and ability with our forwards on there day , and today was there day . At the bsck we never looked in trouble . 3 long range efforts did for us in humongous full size goals . That doesn’t happen in a years time . Everyone to a man was very good today . Roll on afc guiseley next week at the linden . Respect to today’s opponents , who were a good footballing side , They have Been coached well , you could see that . Scorers Kenzie x2 , Lucas x 2 , alfie , sonny and Keenan ❤️❤️❤️. Man of the match’s from parents and players will be recorded for our end of season awards . But I have to give special mention to Issac king at the back , who played with a cigar on , and kenzie up top who was frightening there back four to death . Owls 🦉
