⚽️ GRIMSBY UNITED U12s — TWO PLAYERS WANTED ⚽️

Grimsby United U12s are looking for two new players to strengthen our squad for the winter months.

We currently have 10 players after one of our boys recently moved to Grimsby Town, and we’re now looking to add two players to our squad.

We play in the top league, so we’re looking for players with experience of playing at a good level who are ready for the challenge and competition that comes with it.

Ideally looking for:

* 🟢 Midfielder
* 🔵 Defender

We have a fantastic group of boys and parents who are like one big family. We want players who will fit into that environment, enjoy their football and want to develop, improve and become the best players they can be.

We’re big on player development, confidence and enjoyment, while giving the boys the opportunity to test themselves against some of the best teams and players in the area.

Our winter training starts this week at Humberston Academy, 5–6pm.

There’s no pressure to commit straight away. If your son is interested, he’s more than welcome to come along for some extra training, meet the boys, get a feel for the environment and see how he gets on.

If you think your son could be a good fit for the team, or you’d simply like some more information, please contact Lee Fenty or Andy Garland.

Today saw us take on the strongest team in the division, Discoveries Falcons, already knowing we had a bare 9 available going into the game due to other commitments.

Unfortunately, we then lost another player on Saturday morning through illness and another through injury, leaving us with just 7 players for the game.

Before kick-off, we spoke to the 7 and told them to forget about the result. The score didn’t matter today. All we wanted was to see them stay in a solid shape, show commitment, fight for each other and, most importantly, keep positive.

And my boy, did they give us that and more. 🤍🖤

We set up with two banks of three and kept our shape brilliantly, making it incredibly difficult for Falcons to break us down. We held out for the first 10 minutes and, despite eventually conceding, the boys’ heads never dropped. They stuck to their principles, worked tirelessly for each other and put their bodies on the line with last-ditch blocks and tackles.

The visitors took a 2-0 lead into the break, but you could see the frustration from their side.

The second half was more of the same. We continued to defend brilliantly and kept the scoreline at 3-0 until they eventually found a fourth late on.

Olle and Waumo worked tirelessly, pushing forward whenever they could before immediately getting back into shape. Fenners sat brilliantly in front of the defence, while Albie, Spenno and Freddie were absolutely solid at the back as a three. Romeo made some tremendous saves throughout and also took plenty of pressure off us with his kicking.

Today, the full team deserved Player of the Match. 🏆

To only go down 4-0 against the strongest side in the division, with just 7 players, and to limit their chances as much as we did genuinely feels like a victory considering the circumstances.

Every single one of you made us incredibly proud today. The commitment, togetherness, attitude and fight you showed was everything we could have asked for.

Hopefully, this gives us a real base to build from when we start getting players back.

FULL TIME | Grimsby United Originals 2–4 Discoveries Pelham

First game of the season today for Grimsby United Originals against Discoveries Pelham.

The boys came flying out of the blocks, pressing high and creating a chance to take the lead within the first minute. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take the opportunity, and that set the tone for much of the first half.

We created numerous chances, hit the post a couple of times, had one cleared off the line and went through on goal, but just couldn’t find that breakthrough. Against the run of play, the visitors took the lead to leave us behind at the break.

Pelham came out much better in the second half and extended their lead to 2–0 before we pulled one back from a corner. The keeper fumbled the ball and Bobby Fenty managed to bundle it over the line to get us back into the game.

Chasing the game, we were caught out as Pelham punished mistakes to score a third and then a fourth. We continued to push and got another goal from a dangerous corner, with the ball eventually ending up in the net as an own goal.

Frustrating not to come away with the three points, especially after the first-half performance, but there are plenty of positives to take. We created more chances today than we did in many games last season, and that is something we can build on.

🏆 PLAYER OF THE MATCH – HARRISON WAUMSLEY

A fantastic performance from Harrison today. Playing at right back, he was getting forward at every opportunity while also working tirelessly to get back and defend. He won virtually every duel he went into, barely gave the ball away all game and delivered some dangerous balls into the box.

A really strong all-round performance and thoroughly deserved recognition. 👏

We just need to stay positive when we go behind, be more clinical with the final ball and take our chances when they come.

Plenty to work on, but plenty to be positive about.

🔥⚽️ INTRODUCING OUR SECOND STRIKER! ⚽️🔥

When it comes to finishing, he is simply unbelievable — it just comes naturally to him! Whether it’s an instinctive first-time finish or he’s clean through on goal, there’s never much doubt about where the ball is ending up… in the back of the net! 💥⚽️

And although his right foot is his strongest, his left isn’t far behind! Add to that his strength, ability in the air, unbelievable technical ability and a proper football brain, and you’ve got one seriously complete player. 🧠💪⚽️

He’s so versatile that you could put him at centre back to cover and he’d look like he’d played there his entire life! He can genuinely play anywhere on the pitch and always gives us everything.

This season, we’ve also made the decision to make him our VICE CAPTAIN 👑🫡 — because wherever he plays, he sets the standard and leads by example.

We’re expecting a BIG season from him, and there’s no doubt he’s going to be key to our success this year! 🚀🔥

💪🔥 INTRODUCING OUR STRIKER! 🔥💪

As strong as an ox and we doubt there’ll be many defenders this season who are ready for the challenge! When they’ve played against him, they’ll certainly know they’ve had a game! ⚔️🔥

He’s an absolute nuisance for defenders — powerful, physical and brilliant at driving with the ball , while also having the strength and ability to hold the ball up and bring others into play.

And it’s not just through the middle… 👀 He’s shown in recent weeks that he can do a brilliant job out on the wing too, giving us another option and making him a real handful wherever he plays.

We know once he gets that first goal and the confidence starts flowing, the goals will come naturally! 🥅⚽️🔥

And from corners… 👀🎯

He’s our biggest aerial threat, so we’re expecting to see a few towering headers finding the back of the net this season! 🦅💥🥅

⭐️ NUMBER 7 — OLLE WADHAM ⭐️

🐂💪⚔️⚽️🔥🎯🦅🥅🚀

👑🔥 INTRODUCING OUR NEW SIGNING! 🔥👑

A player who can operate anywhere across the front three — and although he’s a year younger than the rest of the boys, you really wouldn’t know it!

For his size, he is unbelievably strong and never shies away from getting stuck in. His ability to receive the ball and play with such confidence and composure shows just how much potential he has. 🧠⚽️

The way he takes the ball, shifts it and unleashes a shot with that wand of a left foot 🎯🚀 reminds us of Phil Foden — quick feet, great balance and that ability to create something out of nothing! 🪄

We can see plenty of goals coming his way this season 🥅🔥, but it’s not just his ability on the ball that has impressed us…

His work rate is unbelievable . He works for the team, presses, battles and never gives up on a ball.

A really exciting signing with bags of potential, and we’re looking forward to seeing Toby grow, develop and show everyone what he can do! 👀🔥

⭐️ NUMBER 9 — TOBY KING ⭐️

👑⚽️💪🔥🧠🚀🎯🥅💨

05/09/2026

🔥⚽️ INTRODUCING OUR WINGER! ⚽️🔥

A player who can operate off either the right or the left and is equally comfortable on both sides!

Strong with both feet 🦶⚽️ and blessed with the skills to leave defenders guessing — they genuinely don’t know which way he’s going to go! 🕺💨

With his low centre of gravity, quick feet and ability to change direction in an instant, he reminds us of Eden Hazard in his prime! 🔥👀

And when it comes to set pieces… 🎯🥅 he delivers a wicked corner into the box, constantly putting defenders under pressure.

But there’s one title that belongs to him…

👑 THE ASSIST KING! 👑

Always looking to create, always looking for that killer pass and always capable of producing something special! 🪄⚽️

⭐️ NUMBER 99 — FINLEY GARTON ⭐️

⚡️🕺⚽️🪄🎯🔥👑🥅
