Shane and Croudo are officially struggling… no football, no tactics boards, no touchline shouting and definitely no Saturday matchday routines 🤣⚽️
They’re enjoying the well-earned break, recharging the batteries and pretending they know how to relax… but let’s be honest, they can’t wait to get back to doing what they do best with the lads at Grimsby Borough Reserves 💪🔴⚪️

A huge step forward for the future of Grimsby Borough.
Grimsby Borough have officially launched a brand-new football development pathway, creating a clear route from youth football right through to senior football at the club.

As the season is now at a close, Croudo, Shane and Col would like to take a moment to say a huge thank you to everyone involved with the club since we arrived.
Coming into the latter part of the season, the lads were asked to adapt to new ideas, new demands and a different way of working, with player development at the heart of everything we wanted to achieve. While there were challenges at first, the squad embraced it and the progress made was clear — not only in performances, but also in the praise received from opposition management.
The commitment, attitude and effort shown by the lads has been outstanding. They bought into everything that was asked of them, worked hard week in and week out, and represented the club brilliantly. Their willingness to learn, improve and push themselves deserves huge credit, and they should all be proud of what they’ve achieved.
There have been so many positives to take from the short time we’ve been here. Having four players training with the first team, with two going on to make their first team debuts — a fantastic achievement and a credit to the hard work being put in across the club. We’ve also seen five 16-year-olds step up to train with the reserves, with two making their senior men’s debuts, which is something everyone connected with the club should be incredibly proud of.
We would also like to acknowledge the fantastic work done previously by Steve Rouse. The foundations, he provided this group gave us a strong platform to continue building from.
A big thank you as well to Rob Patterson for capturing some brilliant matchday moments throughout the season, and to the club board, management teams and support staff for your unwavering backing — it genuinely means a lot.
While the players enjoy a well-earned break, work has already started behind the scenes as preparations begin for the 2026/27 season.
The ambition is clear: to keep progressing, keep developing players and continue building something everyone can be proud of.
Exciting times ahead.
Thank you, Shane, Rick and Col.

Wyberton 3–1 Grimsby Borough Reserves
A valiant effort that ultimately sums up our season.
The lads made the trip to Boston for our final game of the campaign to face Wyberton. Despite being a dead rubber on paper, it certainly didn’t feel that way. A strong crowd gathered on a glorious day and were treated to a competitive, full-blooded game.
From the first whistle, the contrast in styles was clear. The hosts looked to play direct, while Borough stayed true to their identity—keeping the ball on the ground and building through the thirds.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the officials’ finest afternoon, with a soft penalty awarded to the home side alongside several questionable decisions throughout, many going against Borough. The penalty gave Wyberton the lead, and matters worsened when a red card for a last-man challenge left Borough with a mountain to climb. The hosts capitalised to make it 2–0 going into the break.
The management rallied the team at half-time, tweaking the approach—and the response was superb. Borough dominated the second half, showing composure and quality in possession. A cleverly worked short corner led to a stunning strike into the top corner, bringing it back to 2–1 and setting up a tense finale.
Despite having chances, Wyberton managed to sn**ch a late third to seal the result.
The performance deserved more. Borough were the better footballing side, but, in many ways, it reflects the story of the season.
Now it’s time to rest and recover before a crucial pre-season and the chance to go again.
