Dear all,

Only a few days to go until Rombalds Stride 2026. We are looking forward to meeting you.

Obviously with all the rain we have had there is going to be plenty of mud around, Saturday is looking like light rain and a gentle breeze, so could be worse.

A couple of things on the day.
1) There is an issue with the bridge in Esholt woods (in the first mile) after you pass under the railway bridge and turn right into the wood. We will have marshals there to assist you should you require it as the bridge is currently passable with care. Please remember it will be busier than usual.
Alternatives: After you have passed under the railway bridge BUT before you enter the woods turn right through the small gap in the wall and continue along side the railway line (not on it!) up the hill. Both these paths are the same length at take a very similar route, joining at the top of the climb.
OR
If you don’t like the bridge or the hole in the wall you can continue down the track to the waterworks road and turn right at the T-junction to rejoin the more familiar route a bit further on. This is about 250 metres longer than going over the bridge

Whichever way you go please make sure you know the route before leaving the HQ and take extra care. There is still a long way to go.

2) Tally Cards
These may look a little more colourful than usual. There are Red checkpoint and Black checkpoints. Please make sure you give your number at every checkpoint (Both Red and Black) as we don’t want to lose anyone.
We will only be clipping the Red checkpoints this year in an effort to speed up the race. We will be checking the red clip marks at the end and each red checkpoint must have the correct clip mark to say you have been there. The black checkpoint will be self-clip if you want the full set.

If you do drop out: please make sure you tell a marshal at a checkpoint. Have a great day and remember, there is pie at the end!

If you have entered, or plan to enter, the Rombalds Stride 2026 and are feeling artistic. Why not design the 2026 t-shirt back? All you have to do is make an A4 size design of something YOU FEEL is connected with Rombalds Stride. It must be in one colour (preferably black on white) and submit it via email: [email protected] to us by 31st October 2025 for judging. The best design wins!
Your reward will be a t-shirt with your design on it, and your 2026 entry fee refunded.

In the past, we have asked our Beaver, Cub and Scout sections to do a t-shirt design, but this year, we would like to give one of our competitors the chance to win a free entry and t shirt by submitting a 2026 t-shirt design.

If you would like to enter our t-shirt competition, please send your designs to our email; [email protected] before 11.00 p.m. Thursday 30th October 2025 to be in with a chance to win.

Please make sure it is a single colour and fits on an A4 size sheet (we can scale if required). The winning design will be printed on this year's shirt and the winner(s) entry fee* will be refunded. Rombalds Stride Committee decision will be final. Please make sure all designs are your own original work and do not infringe any copyright. We are running an event not looking for a legal battle.

A heads up!
Over the years we have given a momento for completing the Rombalds Stride run/walk. And over the years we have collected up all the spare momentos, until we find we have lots of momentos and NO room! This year we are having a grand tabletop sale, as they say: "everything must go!". So, come on down a few minutes earlier with CASH only and bag a bargain! Everything on sale is valued at your donation. Yes, YOU DECIDE THE PRICE. We have just about everything from previous years from tee shirts to horse brasses (yes! horse brasses, they look great over the fireplace!). Bring a bag and bag a bargain. Write your name on the bag and leave the bag at the school until you come back after the race! Everyone's a winner, and more importantly, we get the space! See you Saturday at " Rombalds Retail Rush".

Dear all, It's nearly time to Rombald! I hope you are all ready for the off and it goes well. The weather is looking pretty dry, a touch on the cool side but it is a winter challenge. Just a word about the Start. It will be the same place as previous years, but slightly different to keep our neighbours happy. This year the start will have marshals in attendance, please remember they are volunteers and please follow their instruction in a courteous manner. They will ask you form up on ONE SIDE of the road so we can keep traffic moving on the other side of the road. Please don't cross the tape separating the halves of the road unless instructed. Perhaps warm up in different part of the road or on the footpath. Thanks in advance for your help.

Another successful day on the moors for Rombalds Stride. Thank you to all those that took part and worked hard on checkpoints and behind the scenes, it works so much better with you. Welcome to all our members new and old. Whether you are Rombaling for the first time or 41st time

It's nearly Rombalds Stride Winter Challenge time. Things are looking good: van's booked, pies order, checkpointers have all sworn an oath to turn up on Saturday, laminator man has done his thang and I think we have sweets and a drink for all our lovely competitors. And, shushhh! weather is looking, not too bad. Looking forward to seeing you at the school on Saturday.
