Job Opportunity: Finance & Adminstration Manager

Are you an experienced financial manager looking for a new challenge? We are now recruiting for the role of Finance & Administration Manager, who will play a central role in the successful operation of the Club by leading the financial and administrative functions and supporting the operational departments.

As a key member of the Senior Management Team, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Club Secretary and Committee to ensure the Club operates efficiently, aligns with strategic goals, and delivers excellent service to its Members.

Congratulations to Iain McLean who has won The Ladies Cup in the prestigious competition’s centenary year.

The historic competition – first played for in 1926 – was originally organised by the Ladies of Gullane village, who donated a small silver miniature one hundred years ago. The inaugural winner was Peter Morin of Dirleton Castle GC, so it is particularly fitting that Iain, the current Dirleton Castle captain, is this year’s winner.

One of the most prestigious match play competitions in East Lothian, the Ladies Cup is open to male members of all East Lothian golf clubs, with a field of 128 players competing on Gullane No.1 throughout the knock-out stages. Indeed, this year’s line-up featured players from each one of East Lothian’s clubs.

In this year’s final, having emerged successfully through six matches, Iain defeated Dunbar Golf Club’s Douglas Sanderson, etching his name on the famous silverware for the second time, having been the victor back in 2023.

"I am thrilled to win The Ladies Cup during its centenary year, and it means a lot to have my name on the trophy for a second time. It is a fantastic competition to play in and fabulous to see golfers from across East Lothian represented in the draw."

"Jeff Aitken, who acts as chairman, has done a wonderful job in maintaining The Ladies Cup through his hard work and organisation, and it’s an event that many golfers look out for at the start of the season. I look forward to seeing the competition continue to go from strength to strength in the years ahead."

One of the most prestigious club events in East Lothian took place last Sunday, as Dirleton Castle Golf Club hosted The 2026 Haldane Cup, with 120 golfers from across the region competing on Gullane No.2.

Despite some challenging, breezy weather conditions, the overall standard of play remained high with several outstanding performances recorded throughout the day.

In the scratch section, Dirleton Castle's Thomas Simmonds produced a remarkable 5-under par 66 to secure his fourth Haldane Cup title. In the handicap competition, Archerfield member Stephen Lothian claimed the Haldane Mug with an equally impressive nett score of 64.

Reflecting on the event, Dirleton Castle Captain Iain McLean said:

"The Haldane Cup was first contested in 1895, and it's fantastic to see this proud tradition continue by bringing together golfers from across East Lothian each year.

“The standard of golf was excellent, despite some challenging weather conditions, and congratulations go to all of our prize winners, particularly Thomas and Stephen on their outstanding victories.”

“As ever, the course was presented in excellent condition, and I'd like to thank Paul Armour and his dedicated team for all their hard work, as well as Murray Saunders at East Lothian Boiler Care for his generous sponsorship. We look forward to warmly welcoming everyone back next year".
