I might get sacked for this but….

Eat the chocolate.

Wanting chocolate and depriving yourself will make you miserable and there’s only so long you’ll put up with being miserable before you implode and eat every single bit of chocolate in a 10 mile radius! (I speak from experience!)

Instead, allow yourself a little chocolate. Work it into your diet, adjust your calories somewhere else to make room for it.

You are probably going to eat it anyway so stop causing yourself unnecessary stress.

The minute you say you can’t have something, it’s all you want, so don’t say you can’t have it, you never know it might make you not want it!

Anyway, eat the chocolate! Don’t be miserable!

You’re welcome!

This place wouldn’t be the same without him!

Core training doesn’t have to mean lying on the floor doing endless crunches.

Your core is working during so many exercises you probably wouldn’t even think of as “core exercises”.

Single arm presses, offset squats and lunges, single leg exercises, dead bugs… they all get your core working while the rest of your body is moving too.

So if you’ve been avoiding core work because you hate crunches, good news.

There are plenty of other ways to do it.
And if you fancy trying some of them yourself…

NicFitness is 6 years old and to celebrate I’m giving away SIX 30-day passes to the studio.

Starting is often the easy bit.

You feel motivated, make a plan and decide that this time you’re going to stick to it.

Then life gets busy, you miss a few sessions and suddenly you’re back where you started.

If that sounds familiar, A more manageable approach might help you make exercise something that actually becomes part of your week.

And if you fancy putting it into practice, I’m currently giving away 6 x 30-day passes to NicFitness to celebrate the studio’s 6th birthday.

Want to enter? Comment WIN and I’ll send you the link.

Calorie tracking can be really useful.

It can also be time-consuming, frustrating and, for some people, make their relationship with food more complicated.

So where’s the balance?

In this week’s Thrive After 40 podcast, I’m looking at the pros and cons of tracking calories, when it can be a useful tool, when it might be better left alone and whether you need to track forever to get results.

I’ll also talk about some alternatives if weighing, scanning and logging everything really isn’t for you.

Comment 'POD' and I’ll send you the link to listen.

If you only had 30 minutes to exercise, this is what you should do!

Strength training is non negotiable for women over 40.

If you are short on time, stick to compound exercises that use big muscle groups. Make sure you are pushing yourself and using heavier weights when you get stronger

And walk as much as you can.

Alternatively you could join NicFitness, and let me worry about it.

You can just turn up!

Comment ‘start’ if you’d like some info about my 14 day trial
