New shoes day: very white!!

Good morning. Sun is out, wind has dropped, breakfast ready. Life is good

Big ride today; Manifold Trail (the reverse of Tuesday), the Tissington Trail and part of the High Peak Trail. Very windy the whole day, sometimes with me & sometimes not, that’s just how it goes.

Mid-ride refreshments at FatBuns in Hartington, a fabulous cinnamon bun which didn’t last long

A good day! 9 mile walk in Dovedale, which was lovely. I returned over the moor & the sign said “steep ascent”: the sign wasn’t wrong! It was a steep descent too. After all that I just wanted a nice cup of tea- I think I’m getting old.

On my return to camp I went for a short ride on the Churnet Valley cycle trail. Never mind Alton Towers, Alton Castle is an impressive pile

A lumpy bumpy ride today, expect nothing less in this area. Good ride. Mix of quiet roads and trails with good views of Thors Cave. I plan to revisit Ilam Hall tomorrow, but on foot

This appeared on today’s route. No idea what it is but he / she was decidedly unhappy about it

Off on my travels, first day in the Peak District- one walk completed. Not exactly what I intended: getting a bit old to be jumping over dry stone walls, but when needs must ……

The now traditional last night of the trip meal, except it’s not on the last night ‘cos the campsite snack bar is shut tomorrow. Goats cheese & Honey pizza.
