Picture this, you’re 22, on the dance floor of a club, it’s dark, you’re loose, you don’t really have anything to think about or worry about. You’re basically fully embodied living the Jon Hamm meme.
Busting moves to your favourite bangers feels like pure alchemy. You don’t care what you look like but you know I it feels good.
When was the last time you did that?
I look around at the wellness and fitness industry and it’s all PBs, the next race, how much you lifted, your hyrox time, calories burned, track this, track that, crow pose, handstand, how many minutes in the ice bath you did.
I’m all for goals, they’re important and I have some too.
But today I put on in my kitchen and just moved. I had dishes in the sink, food that needed to be cooked, a living room littered with toys but in that moment, movement was more important.
And I got a little taste of that dopamine kick that I used to get with my mates at the club. Carefree and careless.
In a world that is heavy AF right now, movement will always be the thing that keeps me grounded. No goals, just a shake off.
Try it. X
