Sturton Line Dancers Beginners

Line dancing is never far from my thoughts and there are several exciting plans in motion, including a big one off event PLUS a new Friday evening beginner class 🙌🏻

I need your help though!

I’m looking for a class venue for Friday evenings (not Sturton, Welton or Nettleham village halls as they’re already booked)

Tick list is:

✅ Off road parking
✅ Stage area
✅ Good size dance floor
✅ 20 minute drive radius of Caenby Corner
🔊 Sound system is a bonus but not essential

Note that classes this week are both on Wednesday and beginners is an earlier time 🏃🏽‍♀️

What a super class last night. Lovely atmosphere and step perfect dancing, well done 👏🏻

Polite request: I promise I say this with love and it’s not a criticism, but please can we turn the chatter volume down just a touch in between dances, and especially when we’re waiting to start one.

A few people can’t always hear me and I’ve noticed I’m struggling to hear the song intro. A few tracks we dance to have soft or quiet intros, and I need my ear trumpet to count you in correctly at the best of times.

Because we’re a big class, a little bit of chatter goes a long way in terms of overall noise, so it will be very much appreciated if we can whisper softly. I know it’s exciting, but you can cheer after instead!

We continued our foray into Improver dances with an outstanding performance of new dance, Opalite.

I was genuine when I said I was quite taken aback by how well you’re adapting to more complex dances. Be proud of yourselves!

A cycle event is going through Sturton today, hence why the High Street is currently lined with Police no parking cones.

The event will be finished by 2pm and the notices confirm the parking restrictions only apply until then.

If the cones are still in place tonight, you are OK to ignore them and park.

AND ANOTHER THING! 🚙 🚗 🚙 🚗

If you arrive early at classes, there is a car park at the back of the hall with parking for around 8 cars.

I get my SUV up there without an issue.

It will be helpful if we could start utilising it and I’m sure the neighbours will appreciate this too.

Please bear this in mind if you arrive early, but you’re not planning to stay for the Improver half hour. Otherwise you may be blocked in by those staying.

Please also make sure to leave the exit clear!

A night to remember the legend that is Dolly Parton, with a Dolly inspired playlist 🦋

And to also celebrate the birthday of the lovely Sandra, who only went and treated us to cakes 🧁

And then those of us who know Bigger Houses finished by dancing it to Dolly’s original version of I Will Always Love You. Such a haunting song when sung by her, it never fails to bring a tear to my eye, but tonight especially.

All in all, a wonderful night spent with my beginner class family 🫶🏼

📣 Firstly, don’t panic! (I know how easily spooked line dancers are….)

Starting next week, I’m implementing what I hope you’ll think is an exciting change to our Wednesday class.

Weeks where we dance 7 - 8.30pm will run as follows:

⏰ 7 - 8pm Absolute/Beginner Level
(In simple terms, nothing changes)

⏰ 8 - 8.30pm High Beginner/Improver
I will be introducing you to one or two Improver level dances each session.

🤔 Entirely your choice if you stay to watch, join in or prefer to head home and put your feet up.

🪩 Dances hand picked by me that I think you’ll enjoy, to suit our class vibe and ability.

😟 I know a few of you are keen to try Improver level dances but are a bit too chicken to try Tuesday class 🫣. So this is your perfect compromise, still in the comfy, safe surroundings of beginner class!
