“What if I get to birth and suddenly don’t know what to do?”
It’s something I hear from so many pregnant women and people.
You can read the books, listen to the podcasts and make a birth plan… but birth can still be a very unknown experience.
Maybe you planned to labour without an epidural, but the contractions become overwhelming and you decide you want one.
Maybe you planned a vaginal birth, but your baby’s position, your labour or your baby’s wellbeing means your care team recommends a different approach.
Maybe you imagined a straightforward labour, but suddenly you need continuous monitoring, an induction or a caesarean.
These things can feel very different from what you had pictured.
That’s why I don’t teach you how to have a particular type of birth.
I want you to have practical tools you can draw on whatever happens.
How to move and find positions that feel supportive — for example, knowing when you might want to try standing and leaning forward, moving onto all fours, kneeling over a birth ball, or resting on your side.
How to use your breath when things become intense.
How your partner can support you — whether that’s with touch, specific counter-pressure, helping you move or simply knowing how to advocate for you.
How to communicate your needs and preferences with your midwife or medical team.
And how to adapt when your birth takes an unexpected turn.
Because birth preparation isn’t about controlling the outcome.
It’s about understanding your options, knowing what you can try, and feeling supported as things unfold.
That’s what we work on in my Pregnancy Yoga & Birth Preparation classes. 🤍
Not a script for your birth. A toolkit for whatever your birth brings.
