🔴 ⚫️ M A T C H R E P O R T ⚫️ 🔴
The Pumas were greeted by a blustery but sunny early morning start on the 3G pitch in Hornsea this morning! 💨☀️
The conditions didn’t faze our Pumas though! They started the first 15 minutes looking powerful and determined, getting stuck into every challenge and giving Priory plenty to think about despite them being the physically stronger side.
That relentless hunting from Charlie KH especially, once again, soon paid off. A robust challenge saw the ball pop loose then Alex made a cracking pass and Charlie KH was there to finish! ⚽🐾
Priory then came back like a wave 🌊 with some very direct football, particularly from their keeper. But Finn ‘The Wall’ partnered with Stan P stood tall and held back the wave. And if anything did get through, Lucas in goal (parents’ player) was there to mop it up beautifully.
The Pumas then grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and ran their socks off! 🧦😂 Rowan especially standing out for his closing down work but also for turning Priory’s defenders inside out and back to front! He then came in a central midfield and bossed it for 5 minutes with some great passing play (Coaches player).
Alex and Freddie ‘The Terrier’ G went toe-to-toe with their opposite numbers, giving absolutely everything! Freddie F was closing down space brilliantly and putting in some cracking challenges.
All that constant pressure, especially from Olly up front, and Charlie KH eventually paid off as they forced a mistake from Priory that benefited the Pumas! ⚽🔥
Then came a frustrating goalmouth scramble which saw Priory pull one back.
The final three minutes were 🤯👏🏻👌🏻Did Priory get an equaliser perhaps 🤔 but you had to be there to know!
🐾 GAME 2 🐾
Game 2 started with a rejuvenated Priory, who unleashed a tidal wave of pressure in the first half. Stan P and Finn stood tall yet again, but tiredness was beginning to show and cracks in that wall formed.
However, this was Lucas’ time to shine! 🧤🔥
Coming out quickly and standing tall, he made block after block. Saves to his right, saves to his left… getting down low to stop one, straight back up and then backpedalling to deal with the rebound pushed over the top! 🤯🤯👌
Charley H played her part too, clearing the ball with a brilliant no-nonsense approach. And Oscar massively stepped up this week, putting his body on the line and throwing himself into those clearances.
Eventually though… the dam broke and Priory took the lead.
But the Pumas weren’t finished! 💪🏻🐾
They fought for everything and quickly found an equaliser after some fantastic pressure from our attackers. ⚽🔥
Priory then turned the screw even further… but the Pumas dug their claws in. 🐾
So… did the Pumas hold out??!! 🤷🏻♀️
Or was Priory victorious?? 👀
Two great matches played by two very competitive teams! A great Sunday morning of football
