Team news for today’s games. The 1XI make the short trip over the hill to Meltham CC as the 2XI host Mirfield Parish Caveliers CC.

We wish our BOCC girls cricket team the very best of luck for their first softball festival on Monday at Golcar cricket club. The girls have been training hard and we are so proud of them🏏

📣 PLAYER SHOUTOUT 📣

On Sunday our 2XI progressed through to the next round of the Earnshaw Cup after a win against Birkby Rose Hill. A big part of that win was down to today’s shoutout, Ryley Clayton.

Ryley came in at 99/4 and we soon found ourselves 113/6 and hoping to battle up to a competitive score. Ryley had other ideas though. His 111 not out from 64 balls (alongside a cameo appearances from Damo Wood - 35) pushed Broad Oak up to 273 and this was ultimately too much for Birkby to chase. A great match winning knock from the young man and we are sure it’s the first of many.

📣 PLAYER SHOUTOUTS 📣

Saturday saw our 1XI win against Hall Bower CC with some top contributions from several players.

Harley Lodge got us off to a great start with 81 off 112 balls. His partnership with Henco Maritz (54 off 71) put us in an excellent position and we finished on a total of 228.

Hall Bower began well and at the run rate needed but on came Noah Brook who ripped through the batting line up, picking up 5/34.

Special mention to Akshat Arora who scored 41 and picked up 3/49.

This weeks player shoutouts go to;

Liam McElwee for a well grafted 69 from 114 against Rastrick CC.

Akshat Arora (once again) with 5/46 and 62 with the bat against Kirkheaton.

And Henco Maritz for 5/46 against Kirkheaton. He also contributed with 43 off the bat and was unlucky not to go on and score big.

🏏 Fixture news 🗞️

This Saturday sees the 1XI host Hall Bower as the 2XI travel across to Holmfirth.

Sunday is the second round of the Earnshaw cup for our 2XI.

This weeks teams for the 1XI as they travel over to Kirkheaton CC and look to build on last weeks win against Cumberworth Utd CC.

The 2XI have a stand in captain this week in and he has requested a big C on his name in honour.

Rumour has it, we may even welcome back James Anderson at the club as he represents Rastrick CC once more. Jimmy represented Broad Oak back in the mid 2000s as one of several quick juniors who used to terrorise some of the seniors at training. We hope he goes well (the rest of the season 😂).

He might be featuring twice in a week for one game but managed to come second in this weeks national bowling figures! What a guy! 🙌🏻
