We are very excited to be hosting the London Youth Games this year at Fairlop. We will be putting in a team again, with races in slalom and sprint. Two new fun events are also being added, team katakanu races and sup slalom!

To join the team you need to be 17 and under, and either live in or go to school in Redbridge. If you are interested in taking part, please either reply to this message or have a chat to Panda, Lainey or Emily at the lake.

We have now introduced a new tier of membership to the club. I will list the membership options below and the costs and benefits.

Free membership - this basic membership should be selected and signed up for once you have been a few times. This membership allows us to extend our insurance to cover you beyond your initial taster sessions. It also allows access to any day trips.

Paid membership - this membership option comes with a range of benefits. On top of the benefits of the free membership, you get a discount of £2 every week from the normal session price. You will also get a discount on any day trips and club activities, along with access to our weekend whitewater trips. Paid club members also have access to subsidised development courses. Adult cost is £30 per year, and junior membership is £15 per year.

This course will support you to explore and practice simple strategies and safe skills that provide you with the tools to solve common paddling issues in a sheltered water environment, providing peace of mind when venturing out onto the water.

Hi all

We’ve just had to renew our club affiliation with Paddle UK, as part of that we check up on members of the club. Although we class all of you as members only a very small number pay the membership fee and ‘join up’.

Your club is run by a number of dedicated volunteers whose goal is to make canoeing and kayaking accessible for all, we reinvest all the money taken from membership and weekly sessions into the club. This includes kit, courses, subsidies for trips, training, London Youth Games and much more.

We understand life is busy and things like this are not top priority and get forgotten, using Eola you can set this membership to auto renew which will help the club grow what we are able to offer and encourage Paddle UK to invest in what we do.

There are other benefits to membership as well, discount on weekly sessions and as our insurance is based on membership you need to be a member for our off site trips.

We also understand that this is not always affordable and as our goal is to make paddling available to all we can be very flexible and workout a way that suits everyone.

We are very lucky to have some amazing club members who are willing to spend their day helping us to get things ready for London Youth Games. We spent the day picking litter, cutting back vegetation around the gates, repairing the pulley systems for the gates and lots of other small jobs around Fairlop Outdoor Activity Centre.
We are so grateful for all the hard work put in by everyone. Thank you all - you are superstars! 🌟
