THE CHARACTERS 🥊 — MEET KENNY
Every gym has people who inspire you, and Kenny is definitely one of ours.
Kenny was born with polio, which has left him with very limited movement in one arm and weakness in one of his legs.
But if you think that’s going to stop him training, you don’t know Kenny.
He trains hard. He pushes himself. He adapts when he needs to, finds a way when something is difficult, and just keeps going.
He’s incredibly tenacious, remarkably fit, and underneath all that determination is one of the most likeable people you could hope to have around the gym.
What I love about Kenny is that he doesn’t need anyone to feel sorry for him. He just gets on with it.
Some techniques are naturally more difficult for him. Some movements have to be adapted. But he turns up and gives everything he’s got.
And that’s something martial arts has taught me over the years: we don’t all start with the same body, the same abilities or the same challenges. What matters is what we choose to do with what we’ve got.
Kenny has the heart of a lion. 🦁
I’m proud to train him, but I’m even prouder to call him one of The Characters. ❤️🥊
