🏆 2026 TAYLOR ENGINEERING MEN’S ORDER OF MERIT – CHAMPION! 🏆

That’s a wrap on the 2026 Taylor Engineering Men’s Order of Merit, with the season coming to a fantastic conclusion on Sunday 23rd August at the North of Scotland Open Amateur Championship – The David Blair, played over Moray Golf Club’s Old Course.

And what a way to finish the season!

🏆 David Joel – 2026 Taylor Engineering Order of Merit Champion

David secured the Order of Merit title after an outstanding season, with his victory in the North District Matchplay Championship at Inverness Golf Club proving decisive.

David defeated Duncan Stewart 2&1 in the final to claim the North District Matchplay title and, in doing so, cement his place at the top of the 2026 Order of Merit.

The Matchplay points were awarded as follows:

🥇 Champion – David Joel – 750 points
🥈 Runner-up – Duncan Stewart – 565 points
🔹 Semi-finalists – Ryan Copland & John Forbes – 450 points each
🔹 Quarter-finalists – Martin Duncan, Chris Gaittens, Greg Forsyth & Jordan Shaw – 375 points each

The final event, The David Blair, was won by Duncan Stewart, who produced four excellent rounds of 68, 72, 67 and 71 to finish on -6 and take the championship.

The David Blair points were:

🥇 Champion – Duncan Stewart – 1,000 points
🥈 Runner-up – Jordan Edwards – 750 points
🔹 T5 – Marc Dingwall – 375 points
🔹 T7 – Calum Morrison & Ryan Copland – 275 points each

🏆 Taylor Engineering Services Men's Order of Merit – Glenfarclas 36 Hole Open

The Taylor Engineering Services Men's Order of Merit continued on Saturday with the Glenfarclas 36 Hole Open at the ever-popular Boat of Garten Golf Club, where another strong field gathered to contest one of the North's premier open events.

It was a memorable day for the host club as Boat of Garten's Head Greenkeeper, Jordan Shaw, produced two outstanding rounds of 67 and 69 to finish on 4-under-par and lift the Sangster Trophy.

Jordan's victory was a fitting reward after presenting the course in exceptional condition throughout the season. To perform under the pressure of competing on your home course while also being responsible for its presentation makes the achievement all the more impressive. Congratulations, Jordan!

Another excellent performance came from Conor Neil (Durness), who claimed runner-up spot with rounds of 66 and 71 (-3)

The Order of Merit points from the Glenfarclas Open were awarded as follows:

🏆 Sinclair Cup & Abdul Ghani — Two more events, one very exciting Order of Merit race!

The Taylor Engineering Services Men's Order of Merit continued over the past two weekends with two fantastic 36-hole events — the Sinclair Cup at Royal Dornoch and the Abdul Ghani Trophy at Tain Golf Club.

Saturday 18th July – The Sinclair Cup, Royal Dornoch

The magnificent Royal Dornoch Championship Course provided the stage for the Sinclair Cup, with players facing 36 holes around one of the world's most celebrated links.

It was Chris Gilbert of Cruden Bay who came out on top, producing rounds of +3 and level par to take the title.

With the quality of the field and the challenge presented by Royal Dornoch, it was another excellent test of links golf.

The Order of Merit points were shared amongst the leading North players as follows:

🏆 T2 – Lewis Reid 350 points
🏅 4th – Ryan Copland 250 points
🏅 5th – Alasdair Dickson 200 points
🏅 T8 – John Forbes 60 points
🏅 T8 – Allan Cameron 60 points

Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th July – The Abdul Ghani, Tain

A week later, the action moved to Tain Golf Club for another 36-hole test over two days, and once again it was David Joel who showed his class.

DJ followed an opening round of 74 with an excellent 69 to finish on 143 and claim the Abdul Ghani title.

The victory gives David another huge haul of Order of Merit points and extends his lead at the top of the standings as the season enters its crucial stages.

There was plenty of movement behind him too, with Connor Hall continuing his excellent season by finishing runner-up, while Allan Cameron and Munro Ferries shared third.

The Order of Merit points from Tain were:

Can anyone catch DJ?

The seventh event of the 2026 Taylor Engineering Services Men's Order of Merit took place on Saturday 11th July at Forres Golf Club, where players competed over 36 holes for the historic Brodie Trophy.

With scoring proving difficult around a challenging Forres layout, it was Rory MacEwan who emerged victorious after finishing on +2 for the championship. Rory edged out Jake Carpenter on countback after the pair finished tied at the top of the leaderboard, with a better second round securing him the silverware and a valuable 500 Order of Merit points.

Marc Dingwall continued his impressive season with a solo third-place finish, while Craig Smith and Ross Proctor shared fourth after two solid rounds. Ronnie MacDonald claimed seventh, with Derek Chisholm and Finlay Chisholm finishing eighth and ninth respectively. The final Order of Merit points went to Greg Bennett and Jordan Edwards, who shared tenth place.

What a week of golf!

The prestigious Inverness 4 Day Open came to a thrilling conclusion this afternoon as Jamie Whittet of Nairn captured the coveted Rosswood Trophy, defeating Boat of Garten Golf & Tennis Club's Jordan Shaw by 2&1 in a fantastic final played in glorious sunshine at Culcabock.

Jamie was in outstanding form throughout the week, overcoming a stellar line-up on his way to the title. His route to victory saw him defeat John Forbes, Lewis Reid, Ryan Copland and finally Jordan Shaw to etch his name onto one of the North's most prestigious trophies.

Jordan can take enormous credit for an excellent week's work, reaching the final for the 2nd year running with a series of superb performances before eventually finishing runner-up after a high-quality championship match.

As one of the flagship events on the Taylor Engineering Services Men's Order of Merit calendar, the Inverness 4 Day offered a huge opportunity to climb the standings, and several players have made significant moves heading into the second half of the season.

The Taylor Engineering Services Men's Order of Merit rolled on over the weekend with the traditional King Trophy double-header, as players competed at Nairn Golf Club on Saturday before making the short trip to Nairn Dunbar on Sunday.

Saturday – Nairn King Trophy

Saturday belonged to Order of Merit leader David Joel, who continued his outstanding run of form with a superb four-under-par 67 to lift the King Trophy. David's victory further strengthened his position at the top of the standings after another composed performance.

Finlay Wickenden claimed second place with an excellent 69, while Calum Daun and Allan Cameron shared third after rounds of 72. Jake Carpenter and Ross Naismith finished tied fifth on 73, with Steven Pears taking seventh on 74. Andrew Burgess and Jordan Shaw rounded off the top ten with rounds of 75.

Sunday – Nairn Dunbar King Trophy

If Saturday belonged to David Joel, Sunday was Steven Pears' turn to shine. The Nairn man produced a superb two-under-par 70 to claim the Nairn Dunbar King Trophy and thrust himself firmly back into the Order of Merit conversation.

David Joel was once again in the mix, sharing second place after a level-par 72 to continue his remarkable consistency. Ryan Copland, John Forbes, Lewis Reid and Kyle Robertson shared fourth on 73, while Connor Hall, Shaun Innes, Walter Morris, Darren Pitchforth and Ross Proctor all tied for eighth after rounds of 74.

With six events now completed, the Order of Merit is proving every bit as competitive as anticipated. David Joel has strengthened his grip at the top following another win and a runner-up finish, but there are plenty of players keeping the pressure on as the biggest week of the season unfolds.

The action has now moved to the prestigious Inverness Golf Club 4 Day Open, which got underway on Monday. After four days of fantastic golf, the final is now being contested by Jordan Shaw of Boat of Garten Golf & Tennis Club and Jamie Whittet of Nairn, with one of the biggest titles in Highland golf still to be decided.

The Inverness 4 Day also carries enhanced Order of Merit points, meaning the leaderboard could look very different once the final putt drops. Everything is still to play for!

The fourth event of the 2026 Taylor Engineering Services Men's Order of Merit took place last weekend at the magnificent Brora Golf Club, with players battling it out in the prestigious James Braid Open over 2 days.

The championship belonged to Inverness Golf Club man David Joel, who produced two superb rounds of 69 and a brilliant closing 66 to finish on an outstanding total of -5 and claim the title in style.

The victory sees "DJ" propel himself to the top of the Taylor Engineering Services Men's Order of Merit standings and firmly establish himself as the man to catch heading into a huge fortnight of golf.

However, David wasn't the only player to make a significant move in the Order of Merit race. Home favourite Connor Hall delighted the Brora supporters with a pair of excellent 69s to finish in a tie for second place, earning a valuable haul of points and catapulting himself into the top 10 of the standings.

Special mention must also go to James MacBeath. Not only does James work his magic as the greenkeeper at Brora, keeping the course in outstanding condition all year round, he's pretty handy with the clubs too! His performance earned him a share of sixth place and some valuable Order of Merit points.

The third event of the 2026 Taylor Engineering Men's Order of Merit took place yesterday at Golspie Golf Club, where players competed for the historic Millicent Bowl and Campbell Shield.

The day belonged to Brora Golf Club's Ross Naismith, whose superb round of 69 (-1) was enough to claim victory in extremely testing conditions. While the afternoon starters enjoyed slightly kinder weather, those out in the morning faced a relentless combination of rain, strong winds and gusting conditions that made scoring exceptionally difficult.

Ross's under-par round was a standout performance and one of the most impressive scores recorded on the Order of Merit circuit so far this season.

Gary Ross and David Joel shared second place on 75, while Iain Ross, Darren Hexley and Connor Hall finished tied fourth after battling their way round in the challenging conditions.

Despite the weather, Golspie Golf Club once again provided a fantastic championship test. The course was presented in excellent condition and rewarded those who could control their ball flight and manage the elements throughout the day.

The latest Order of Merit standings have seen some significant movement. Ryan Copland continues to lead the race after his victory at Moray, but Ross Naismith's win at Golspie moves him firmly into contention, while David Joel climbs to third place thanks to another consistent performance. With only three events completed, the battle for the 2026 title is already shaping up to be an exciting one.

The second event of the 2026 Taylor Engineering Services Men's Order of Merit took place on Saturday at the magnificent Moray Golf Club & Pro Shop, with competitors facing a 36-hole challenge across both the Old and New Courses.

Blessed with perfect golfing weather and immaculate playing surfaces, conditions were ideal for scoring and the players certainly rose to the occasion.

Home player Ryan Copland produced a winning score of 4 under par, carding rounds of 68 and 69 to claim the Boyd Anderson Trophy with a winning total of 137.

His victory sees him collect a valuable haul of Order of Merit points as the race for the 2026 title begins to gather momentum.

Brora Golf Club's Ross Naismith and Copland's club teammate Jordan Edwards were both hot in his heels, finishing on 138 just one shot back, while Lewis Reid produced the round of the day with a sensational second-round -7 64 to secure fourth place on 139.

Strong scoring could be found throughout the field, highlighting both the quality of the players competing and the outstanding condition of Moray Golf Club's two championship layouts.

The Old and New Courses provided a fantastic test and proved once again why Moray remains one of the premier venues in the north of Scotland.

With two events now completed, the Order of Merit table is beginning to take shape and every point earned this weekend could prove crucial as the season unfolds.
