Full-time match update 🔵⚪️

A very entertaining game last night and unfortunately we came out on the wrong side of the result.

It was a game played end-to-end, with plenty of chances created for both sides. Castlemilk were just that bit more clinical in front of goal on the night.

The boys found themselves 3-0 down at half time, which was frustrating as there was very little between the two teams in the first half. We came out after the break determined to get ourselves back into the game, and we did just that through Cammy ⚽️.

We dominated the chances for a large part of the second half and created enough opportunities to put Castlemilk under real pressure. Unfortunately, we just couldn't take enough of those chances to give ourselves a realistic opportunity of overturning the first-half deficit.

The fighting spirit and effort throughout the game was excellent. The boys showed a lot of character in the second half, throwing everything at it in an attempt to get something from the game.

Unlucky boys. Heads up, learn from it and we move on to the next fixture. 💪🔵⚪️⚽️

🔵⚪️ What a weekend for Irvine Meadow! ⚽️

A fantastic weekend for our First Team, securing a brilliant 2-0 victory in the Marymass Derby. It was a special occasion for everyone connected with the club and a particularly proud night for our Development Squad.
Four of our young players were called up to the First Team squad — Lyle Kerr, Jake Thomson, Cameron Leckie and Alfie Ashmead. 👏

Jake, Cammy and Alfie all featured in the second half, gaining valuable experience at First Team level. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the lads and another great example of the pathway from our Development Squad into the First Team.
Well done lads — keep working hard! 💙⚪️

And another huge Scottish Cup win after a thrilling game against Edinburgh Uni, with the Medda coming out on top in a penalty shootout to progress to the next round! ⚽️

Everyone at the development squad wishes the first team gaffer all the best with his recovery and hope to see you back soon.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who played their part over the last 24 hours, our players, management and staff, officials, media team and of course, every single supporter who came out and backed us. 💙

Not many clubs can play two games in less than 24 hours and come through them successfully. That takes a huge effort and commitment from everyone involved, both on and off the pitch and we couldn’t be prouder.

Marymass brought our biggest Derby attendance in years and seeing so many familiar faces (as well as plenty of new ones) around Meadow Park was absolutely brilliant.

There’s never been a better time to come back out, bring the family, bring a mate, or come along for the first time and watch the Medda. ⚽️ Your support means more than you know and it is very much appreciated by everyone at the club.

Finally, we want to send our very best wishes to our manager Jamie McKim for the quickest possible recovery. ❤️‍🩹 We hope we’ve done you proud Gaffer. 💙

It’s match day, Medda! Tonight we travel away to Ardeer for our 2nd league game of the season.
Following on from a positive performance last week, we’ll be looking to carry that momentum into tonight’s game and put in another strong team performance.

So the Development 20’s team league season has started tonight with a home draw against Darvel. 2-2.

Medda deservedly took the lead in the first half with a well worked team goal.
With striker Cammy putting away a pressing opportunity goal to a scrambling keeper.

Second half we had to make changes as wee Alfie was sick and couldn’t continue. Couple of our players received cautions so it was Blair coming off too.
Both replaced by Callum and Lenny.

Darvel came out with more hunger and pressed the ball which led to
An unfortunate mistake in defence that ended up resulting in a poor own goal.

Medda boys were slightly off the pace for the first 25 minutes by a more fitter Darvel team.
More changes had to be made as per our fitness and again a couple of boys on a couple of cautions.
Mikey and Jacob both who played well were replaced with big Gary and our wee terrier Kyle for our 09’s team who never gave up menacing the midfield 👏🏻
Also lastly striker and our goal opener Cammy was taken off too as carrying a caution was replaced by
big Stevan up top.

Again the Medda boys kept going with fresh legs from the subs,
re-energised the press and our tackling was better.
Medda then got a reward for their perseverance with a brilliant individual goal when super sub Lenny who took on two defenders and roofed the net with a stunning strike.

With couple minutes left Darvel were awarded a dodgey penalty to make it
2-2.
The VEO analysis clip shows that Nathan’s challenge for the ball on the striker was made “outside” the penalty area however it is what it is!
We ourselves had two calls for penalties waved away and a couple of reckless challenges that could have resulted in two red cards in our favour: And then finally 1 minute later
- full time.

So a round up on Today’s match performances left a wee sour taste in the dressing room with the Medda boys feeling like tonight’s result should have been a win other than a draw.

And to be fair the lads had worked hard this week in training.
But equally agreed to get the fitness
Standards up over the next couple of weeks.

Lastly,
This is a brand new team with many new players with some boys not knowing each others names.
Also we are a new coaching management team too.
With head coach Alain away on a 3 week world cruise.
He’s still putting the effort in whilst on his holidays to organise and sort out all the secretarial work.👏🏻

With most players having been away for weeks these summer holidays during our 4 friendlies it was difficult to achieve consistency.

Plenty to reflect and learn from tonight’s match.

After a long pre-season, we're excited to get the new campaign underway. The hard work has been done, and now it's time to get the season started.

We're looking forward to a positive start and hope to see plenty of support down at the game.
