Has anyone mistakenly picked up a neon yellow running jacket from the bench, we have one missing?

Run Report - Run 330 - 13th June

Thanks to Rob (never been the same since he came back from Stratford Upon Avon.)

Upon the grand occasion of parkrun’s millionth revel, it seemed most fitting that a dinosaur or twain should grace the gathering. Thus did Martin Southam, marking the fiftieth year of his mortal pilgrimage, appear amongst the merry company at this weekend’s Cliffe Castle parkrun. And lo, there were balloons aplenty—nay, a multitude of them—adorning the scene with festive splendour.
Lo, there were assembled this day one hundred and ninety-nine competitors, a full quarter of whom did make their first appearance at this noble event. Many travellers, too, did journey hither from far-flung places—London, Poole, and Durham amongst them. Most wondrous of all was the presence of the eldest competitor ever to grace Cliffe Castle, the venerable Rab C Dinosaur, who draweth near unto the celebration of his ten-millionth birthday.
From Baildon came Andy Robinson, who did fleetly complete the course in eighteen minutes and thirty seconds, thereby achieving a personal best, and crossing before Michael Abrams-Cohen. Among the ladies, the steadfast Ann Marie Bulcock was first to return home, arriving a full minute ahead of Sarah Bagley, despite the blust'ring winds that did vex the field. Yet fortune smiled upon the company, for the heavens withheld their rain until every runner and walker had safely crossed the finishing line.
Amongst the day's notable triumphs, Kathleen Morland did complete her two hundredth parkrun, one hundred and thirty-four of those having been run at Cliffe Castle. Clare Atkinson achieved her fiftieth parkrun, all save one having likewise been at Cliffe Castle. And Charlotte Westerman, recent winner of a solid silver medal in the championship of Yorkshire, did shave one minute and twenty seconds from her personal best, notwithstanding that she ran attired in face paint and a merry tutu. And prithee, forget not the four hundredth parkrun of Chris Healey, a merry celebration of sixteen full years within the noble parkrun fellowship!
In all, nineteen souls did attain personal bests this day, and much rejoicing was there.
Many thanks are owed once more unto the marshals and all other volunteers, whose labours made the occasion possible. Richard Pierce did serve as Race Director for the six-and-fiftieth time, whilst Liz Hills fulfilled the office of timekeeper for the one hundred and eighty-first occasion. By good fortune, she escaped being devoured by the fearsome dinosaur, who had cunningly disguised itself as Ria Turpin; and thus it is expected that she shall resume her duties anon next week. Young Charlotte Searby, too, did render service as a volunteer for the one hundred and ninety-fifth time—a feat most worthy of commendation and praise.

This week's run report, courtesy of Rob Grillo....
Under the most able stewardship of Lorna Hubbard, the three hundred and nine-and-twentieth running of Cliffe Castle parkrun beheld one hundred and four-and-forty souls take to the course, despite the sodden heavens and unkind weather. Nine-and-twenty amongst them were first-time visitors unto the event, journeying from places as distant as Bognor Regis, Pickering, and York; and, with no small measure of courage, from beyond the border in Burnley and Morecambe.
Otis Brooks, as is now his wont, was first to cross the finish, this time enjoying an advantage of nigh upon four minutes over Matthew Wilson. Great praise be due unto Stephen Boynton, who came home in third place and was the foremost finisher in the five-and-sixty to nine-and-sixty years age category. It is but seldom that our ever consistent compatriot Henry Pettinger, who hath now run two-and-twenty minutes and more for the twelfth week in succession, is bested by one of his own years or greater.
Lucy Needham, hailing from the Harriers of Wharfedale, was the first lady to finish, achieving this distinction for the first time since the month of December last.
Thirteen persons did set forth new personal bests. Stuart Taylor (of Burnley) completed his five hundred and sixth parkrun, whilst Ian Stansfield of Todmorden, the joint-eldest competitor of the day, completed his five hundred and ninetieth; both essaying “The Cliffe” for the very first time.
One notable milestone is to be recorded: Thomas Cunningham did complete his two hundred and fiftieth parkrun on this occasion.
Our heartfelt thanks are offered unto all marshals, spectators, runners, and walkers for their most pleasant company upon this morn. God willing, we shall see ye all again next week.
