If you’re returning from holiday, injury or any prolonged spell away from training, if your struggling to motivate, if you’re worried about your current fitness level or list gains?? πŸ’₯ REMEMBER πŸ’₯ you’re only ONE WORKOUT AWAY from being right back in the game πŸ’ͺ🏻 my advice πŸ€™πŸ» get one workout done πŸ€™πŸ» use higher volumeβœ… use exercises and modalities that you enjoyπŸ˜… get a sweat on πŸ˜… don’t make it overly technical βœ… don’t try and max out or test anything that could lead to a perceived negative outcome 😒 don’t over think it πŸ€”

The objective was five strict RMU πŸ’ͺ🏻 four clean reps in this set by back in Motus Strength a couple of years ago πŸ€™πŸ» this athlete is in his 50s πŸ™ŒπŸΌ and making a very hard set look comfortable 😎 #50+

If you’re first strict RMU looks like this πŸ‘†πŸ»you’ve trained well πŸ’ͺ🏻 full control throughout πŸ’ͺ🏻 some say that the muscle up is little more than a party πŸŽ‰ trick and has little value as a conditioning objective 🧐 I disagree, to achieve success and complete the skill to this standard πŸ‘†πŸ» generally requires six weeks to six months of general strength work plus specific technical training πŸ’ͺ🏻 success indicates the fulfilment of a lengthy and committed training program πŸ’ͺ🏻 pull up mechanics, dip mechanics, shoulder stability and strength, grip strength, arm strength… will all be developed during the process πŸ’ͺ🏻 in addition ➑️ bodyweight is also a key factor so body fat reduction will often be required concurrent to the strength & conditioning πŸ‘πŸ» get in touch to discuss getting started βœ… i have availability in London and Hertford βœ… i specialise in working with senior (masters age) clients (40-60) πŸ˜€ muscle up success is always an objective πŸ€™πŸ»

Sometimes we need to isolate movements to protect vulnerable areas during the loading and conditioning process πŸ‘πŸ» when a spine is intolerant to extension or any movement for that matter, strategies that prevent the spine from compensating are useful πŸ‘πŸ» strength through a full range of hip extension is an important functional attribute - failure for the hip to extend, either due to weakness or structural issue will lead to excessive lower back extension- this can lead to overuse problems and LBP 😒 setting up the isolated hip extension as in the vid πŸ‘†πŸ» is one way to isolate hip extension, the contra lateral flexed hip, slightly flexed spine and braced hold onto the table all assist πŸ‘πŸ» reps or isometric holds can be employed in this position as can a bent knee option for the moving leg πŸ‘πŸ» if you check the mri image πŸ‘‰πŸ» you’ll get an idea of the spine involved and why I’m taking precautions 🧐 individualised movement strategies and loading are often the key to rehabilitate difficult cases like this one πŸ‘πŸ»
