Khushi Hands products are produced by a small business in Kolkata called ConneXions. ConneXions focuses on empowering women from three local slum communities. Women come to ConneXions and are taught skills to produce beautiful high-quality products. The income they earn helps them to become increasingly self-sufficient. Their confidence and self-esteem grow as they are empowered to improve the quality of their lives and those that depend on them. Khushi Hands is ConneXions' only UK sales partner. This picture was taken at a vocational training centre in Kolkata which employs underprivileged women to handcraft a range of products. These centres also provide young women from slums with training and job opportunities. As well as being trained in tailoring and paper crafts, the women are taught English, business skills and values for life. The women, while being paid for their craft work, are increasingly self-sufficient. Their self-esteem and dignity are built up and they are empowered to begin to improve the quality of their lives. Khushi Hands exists to support these women by selling their beautiful artisan products. You can visit our online shop at: khushihands.org.uk
