Great performance and result for the team!
👏🔴⚫️

After a scrappy start to the game and a few half chances, our pressure finally paid off when Rory slid the ball through to Robert, who hammered home the opening goal.

The team continued to press and got their second through some excellent dribbling from Lyle, who cut the ball back for Ajay to drive home. Robert then followed up with his second of the match after some quick feet and an excellent finish.

The team continued to press but were nearly caught out when Girvan broke quickly up the park and won a penalty. Connor, however, expertly saved to keep the momentum with the team going into half-time.

HT: Bonnyton 3–0 Girvan

The second half started with more pressure from the team, and a 12-yard toe-poke from Rory gave us our fourth goal.

Girvan managed to get a goal back, but the team never allowed it to affect them and continued to drive forward. Dylan scored his first goal for the club from the penalty spot after being fouled, before Ritchie hammered home a 20-yard screamer for his first goal too! 🚀

Rory then added his second of the game with some quick feet and a finish into the bottom corner, before setting up Lyle for the final goal of the game with a tap-in at the back post.

Full-time: Bonnyton 8–1 Girvan

A great performance from the whole team! 👏👏

MATCH DAY ⚽️

Today saw us take on an unbeaten Bellfield at the William McIlvanney Campus. With strong winds making the conditions difficult, we knew from the start that this was likely to be a game of two halves.

FIRST HALF

Bonnyton won the toss and elected to play with the wind behind us, and we started brightly with some positive attacking play down both wings. We created early pressure and came close to taking the lead when an effort struck the bar.

Despite our positive start, it was Bellfield who opened the scoring. A strong driving run into the box was followed by a well-finished effort at the back post to put the home side 1–0 ahead.

The setback didn't stop us, and we continued to push forward. Some excellent link-up play between Rory and Jude created a good breakaway opportunity, but the Bellfield goalkeeper did well to make a save at his near post.

As the half progressed, our confidence continued to grow and we were eventually rewarded.

Robert picked the ball up on the right wing, drove forward and unleashed an absolute thunderbolt from the corner of the 18-yard box. The strike flew into the top corner, giving the goalkeeper absolutely no chance. ⚡️

1–1.

We continued to look dangerous, and some excellent one-touch passing from back to front created another opportunity. Jude broke the offside trap and raced through one-on-one, only for the Bellfield keeper to make another excellent save, diving low to his left.

HALF TIME: BELLFIELD 1–1 BONNYTON

SECOND HALF

With the wind picking up even further, we knew the second half was going to be difficult. Bellfield started strongly and took advantage of the conditions, regaining the lead early on following another driving run and composed finish.

To our credit, we responded well and continued to look for opportunities whenever we could.

Rory Campbell did brilliantly to hold the ball up before releasing Jude, who once again found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Unfortunately, his effort sailed just over the bar.

As the half progressed, Bellfield began to see more of the ball and created a number of chances. They showed good composure in front of goal and took their opportunities well.

The pick of their goals was a superb top-corner finish from McCluckie, as Bellfield went on to add further goals and eventually secure the victory.

FULL TIME

Bellfield 5–1 Bonnyton

The scoreline doesn't reflect everything we did well today. Most importantly, hard work, we showed much more fight, determination and togetherness than in recent weeks.

There were plenty of positives to take, particularly our first-half performance, our attacking play and the way we continued to create chances despite the difficult conditions.
