If, like most people, your commitment to the gym and exercise in general took a bit of a dip in December, donβt make the mistake of picking up exactly where you left off when getting back to it.
Starting the year with the same high intensity might feel tempting, but itβs crucial to remember that, after some time off, pushing too hard, too soon can lead to a number of issues, such as excessive Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) or injury, which may result in missing future sessions and therefore hindering progress.
To avoid this, instead of going all in and training at a 10/10 intensity for your first few sessions, start this month at a more sustainable 6-8 out of 10 and slowly build it up from there.
Remember, consistency is key and so by starting at a moderate pace, youβll establish a solid foundation for the year ahead.
Itβs not about how heavy you lift in these initial sessions, but how consistently you show up.
So, letβs make this January about smart, sustainable progress.
