COTTINGHAM RANGERS VIKINGS 2-1 KINGSWOOD ARROWS

Disappointment for our lads today as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Cottingham Vikings - but the score doesn’t tell the full story, with the Arrows desperately unlucky not to come away with at least a point.

It was a tight first half, with the teams only separated by a penalty by the home side.

The second half saw the lads create the chances, and it was Taylor who got us level. Good work from Zak and Jacob in midfield saw Taylor cut inside, beat three players and get hacked down in the area. He confidently converted his penalty and the lads gave everything to get another.

Jayden gave the Cott defence lots of headaches on the left hand side, and was the victim of plenty of manhandling and fouls as the defenders struggled to contain him. A long ball from the Cott keeper was allowed to bounce and they took the lead with 10 minutes to go.

The lads pushed and pushed, but we just couldn’t find a way to equalise.

Luke and Ade are proud of our lads efforts and we move on to next week - Hornsea Sporting Reds in the Cup.

🏆 Supporters’ MOTM went to Jayden (Sponsored by Seun Taddy Duro-Fadipe, Sumaira Khair) - really good from Jayden today, especially in the second half. All the more impressive when you consider he is playing a year up!

🏆 Coaches’ MOTM went to Zak (Sponsored by Daniel Holland, ANDYS & EMBE Acupuncture & Complementary Health Clinic) - class from Zak in midfield today. Worked so well with Lewis and Jacob, and his footwork and effort was first class.

Hull Eagles Futsal Academy 4-4 Kingswood Arrows

What a game down at the Allam Sports Centre this morning in our first Junior Futsal Series League game!

Hull Eagles Blacks are a top team that have played futsal much longer than our boys, and they were sharper than us in the first half. We had good chances, but we came into half time 0-3 down.

Luke and Adrian encouraged the boys to go man for man and be more aggressive in the tackles, and that paid off straight away. Taylor finished after his press forced the mistake from the Eagles defender to make it 1-3.

Soon after, it was 2-3. Lewis did the same, punishing the Eagles trying to play out near their own goal. The lads pushed for an equaliser but Eagles were still a threat going forward, with Ellis making some excellent saves.

Theo won a free kick as time was running out, and Jacob smashed his free kick in for the equaliser. The Eagles went ahead again from their own free kick to make it 3-4, but a chip to the back post by Theo found Jacob, who headed in superbly to make it 4-4.

Massive thanks to the JFS team, including Joe Duffy, Jacob and Mantas.

FRIENDLY DEFEAT FOR THE ARROWS OVER AT BARTON

Tough test for the lads today as they lost 0-6 to Barton Town FC U13.

The wind and sheer size of some of the opposition hampered the lads, who all fought to the end and never threw in the towel.

Playing against a bizarre 2-4-2 formation is something we’ve never come up against before and possibly never will again.

Our next game is not until 4th October against Cottingham Rangers Vikings!

🌟 Parents’ MOTM went to Leo (Sponsored by Andy Mitchell) - A rock at the heart of defence and despite the score, played superbly at the back. Well done Leo!

🌟 Coaches’ MOTM went to Jacob (Sponsored by Duo Joinery & Modular Services Ltd ) He battled superbly in the middle, trying to make things happen all game. Good effort Jacob!

A week off for us next week before we return to the league the week after!

PLAYER SPONSOR OPPORTUNITY!

Please welcome our final summer signing for the 2026/27 season - David!

David is a versatile defender who is excellent on the ball, has pace and is immensely strong. He made his league debut for us this weekend and helped us to a 2-1 win!

We’d love for David to get at least one sponsor for this season to help us get rain jackets for the squad.

So many friends, family and businesses have helped us by sponsoring all of the rest of our lads - so let’s get this shared far and wide to try get David his sponsor for this season!

KINGSWOOD ARROWS 2-1 BRIDLINGTON TOWN ROVERS

Our Arrows boys made the perfect start to the new season this morning on Winifred Holtby Academy, beating Bridlington 2-1 in a closely fought match.

Taylor put us ahead in the third minute after Tristan had put him through. The goalkeeper came out to clear but Taylor won the ball off him and rolled it into an empty net.

The Arrows had chances to add to their lead but the long grass hampered a lot of the play, and it was 1-0 at half time.

Brid equalised soon after half time after a corner was only half cleared, and the game became physical as both sides scrapped for the win.

Ten minutes from time, it was Abid who put us ahead again after Tristan once again put him through. Our number 21 kept his cool to score and win us all three points.

ESPERANZA 2030 4-1 KINGSWOOD ARROWS

Great run out for our lads instead of training tonight, playing Esperanza 2030 who will play in the division above this season.

Arrows played direct and with better finishing, we could have been 2 or even 3 up. We came into half time 0-2 down, but playing some excellent football and more than matching our opponents.

We went 3-0 down after we couldn’t clear a free kick that should never have been given, but the 14 available lads never gave up and we got our rewards 10 minutes from the end. Hard work from Abid found Taylor, who squared to Jayden in the box and he found the net on his second attempt.

We looked dangerous going forward with Taylor, Jayden, Abid and Archie all with pace to burn causing the defence problems.

Taylor’s excellent shot was tipped onto the bar by the Esperanza keeper, with those with a better view confirming after the game that the ball did indeed cross the line. Heartbreakingly for Taylor, the referee waved play on.

We conceded a fourth just before the end of the game but our performance was superb and if we take those kind of performances into the league campaign, we are in for an exciting season!
