Although the season might of finished some of the boys have been keeping up there match fitness taking part in a number of junior runs, really pushing themselves and showing great determination!! 💪🏻 🏃‍♂️‍➡️

One of the lads even helped our friends Barham who were short of players out at a tournament over the weekend, reaching the final and playing some great football. 👏🏻

Preparations for our trip to Holland next weekend take a step up this week as the lads take on a U9 team and playing in 7 a side format. To get them used to the challenge they’ll be facing in both the tournaments they’ll be participating in whilst in Holland. 🇳🇱 ⚽️

LETS GO HAWKS!! 👍🏻⚽️🔵🦅

This weeks MOM was…………….our electrolyte king, No. 18 Isaac Arro!!!

After a few quiet weeks for Isaac where he’s struggled for confidence in front of goal, he came back with a bang today!

We asked him to focus on staying further up the pitch and pressing the opposition defence today and he was a constant menace to them, often getting the better of much bigger players and causing them real problems. 💪🏻

Even after scoring a freak OG which could have really knocked his confidence, he reacted brilliantly scoring 2 clinically taken goals and being unlucky to add a couple more to his account. 🚀⚽️

WELL DONE ISAAC!! 👍🏻⚽️🔵🦅

Today the lads travelled to South Cave for their last game at U8’s, coming up against one of the tops teams in the group.

In what was a beautiful morning for football all spectators were treated to some brilliant football and courageous defending from both teams.

Game 1 started and the boys flew out the blocks putting the South Cave defence under real pressure, striking the post and forcing a top save from the keeper. After an unusual error from a Hawks defender allowed South Cave to take the lead we came roaring back scoring 2 brilliantly worked team goals. With both sides battling hard for the ball and having chances it took an unlucky long distance OG from our player to see the game finish all square.

Game 2 kicked off with the boys coming out looking very disjointed and nervous especially around our own area. And as we know at this level any mistakes are soon punished which South Cave did, capitalising on a number of defensive mix ups. At the half we asked the lads to show real character and get back to the effort levels they’d show in game 1. And they did exactly that! Showing real determination to pull 2 well taken goals and creating a number of other good chances.

Once again today was 2 really well organised teams, who know each other well, playing some lovely football not only offensively but defensively as well. 👏🏻 ⚽️

WELL DONE HAWKS!! 👍🏻⚽️🔵🦅

Tomorrow the Hawks bring their U8’s season to an end with a trip down the A63 to our friends South Cave Sporting.

With previous meetings between the teams being very close affairs tomorrow will hopefully be no different!

One is for sure, there will be great football on display and both sets of boys will be giving their all for the team! 💪🏻

This weeks MOM was…………………our midfield maestro No. 26 Archie McAllister!!

Archie is fast becoming the player to set the standard when it comes to hard work and application in the game and today was no exception. His tireless running up and down the pitch without any prompting from the sideline really helped his team both going forward and back.

Add that to his usual confidence and guile on the ball which saw him set up a goal and start a number of other promising attacks meant it was a brilliant all round performance.

WELL DONE ARCHIE!! 👍🏻⚽️🔵🦅

This morning the Hawks took on a strong, powerful Elloughton Blackburn team in conditions that wouldn’t look out of place in November nevermind May!

Game 1 started with the boys on the front foot carving out a couple of openings and with a little more care with the final pass we could have taken the lead. The deadlock was broken by the Hawks with a brilliant free kick into the top corner! We further took the lead with a clever finish in the area. Credit to Elloughton who came back into the game with a couple of goals of their own before the boys stepped things up killing the game off with two more well taken goals.

Game 2 was a much closer affair with neither team really gaining the upper hand and it becoming a war of attrition with both sets of players giving their all. As the game progressed the Hawks started to create chances and again with a couple of better decisions in the final third we could of got a our noses in front but it was the opposition who it us with a classic counter attack to grab the lead and despite a late push to equalise it was not to be.

Two really well contested games, played in the right spirit and with typical amount of physicality you come to expect at G1.

WELL DONE HAWKS!! 👏🏻⚽️🔵🦅

The last home game of the season tomorrow for the Hawks as we entertain Elloughton Blackburn down at Sproatley Field.

Facing another big physical side in Elloughton the boys will have to give 100% if they want to impose their style of play onto the game. 💪🏻

After a strong, committed performance last week, again the lads will be looking for a positive result as they start to draw a close on phase 2 and the season. ⚽️👏🏻

LETS GO HAWKS!! 👍🏻⚽️🔵🦅

This weeks MOM was…………..our pocket dynamo No. 10 Frankie Nifton!!!

After suffering a confidence dip over the past couple of months Frankie was back with a bang today!!

Playing with the skill and confidence we know he’s got he was a constant threat going forward playing some lovely balls to teammates and was only denied a couple of top bins goals by some outstanding saves by the opposition GK.

Add that to his non stop efforts in getting back to cover even though he was up against players a lot bigger than him he didn’t take a backward step once. 💪🏻

WELL DONE FRANKIE!! 👏🏻⚽️🔵🦅

On what was a sun soaked spring morning the Hawks took on our friends Barham Blues at Alderman Kneesaw Park.

With a lot of the lads knowing each other away from football through school and other sports this was always going to be a close, well contested affair and that proved just the case!

As Game 1 started both teams worked hard to try and gain the upper hand but chances were hard to come by. Into the second half and the boys started to impose themselves on the game with number of flowing moves but through a mixture of great Barham goalkeeping and wastefulness in front of goal we were just unable to break the deadlock.

Into Game 2 and the Hawks continued where they left off putting the Barham defence under a lot of pressure until we finally found the breakthrough this followed up with another well worked goal. As the second half started a lapse of concentration allowed a Barham playing to score an absolute worldie giving our GK no chance. The lads soon regrouped and after some strong positive play coming out of defence we reestablished our 2 goal lead. But once again the same opposition player was allowed time and space to bury another great goal making for a nervy finish. The Hawks remained calm and composed and saw the game out. 👏🏻⚽️

Another great example of 2 teams giving absolute everything for their team and playing with the right spirit! 👏🏻

WELL DONE HAWKS!!! 👍🏻⚽️🔵🦅
