💚❤️ MYTON WARRIORS GIRLS v WYKE ❤️💚
DERBY NIGHT UNDER THE LIGHTS! 🔥🏉
Tonight we welcomed our neighbours Wyke for a hometown derby, and what a game it turned out to be! A proper arm wrestle, plenty of big hits and some fantastic rugby from both sides, all played in great spirits. 👏
MYTON 20 – 6 WYKE
Another derby victory for the girls! ❤️💚
The opening five minutes were a proper battle, with both teams testing each other out. Then up stepped E Knight! ⚡
Picking the ball up inside our own 10, Emmie stepped two defenders, took the outside edge and went the full length of the field to open the scoring. Absolutely electric! 🔥
Despite the early breakthrough, the girls looked a little flat for the opening 15 minutes. Wyke's aggressive line speed caused us problems and we found ourselves defending back-to-back sets.
But the girls dug in, won the arm wrestle and once again Emmie broke through for another sensational solo, full-length try!
M Kelsey slotted both conversions to send us into half-time 12–0 up. 🎯
The second half saw the girls put their foot down, working harder in contact, winning the ground and controlling the ruck.
We made a few changes to give our developing girls some valuable minutes, but Wyke weren't going away quietly!
After spending much of the next 10 minutes defending inside our own 10, Wyke capitalised and crossed on the left edge. Fair play to them — they kept asking questions and deserved their score. 👏
But our response was immediate!
Our usual try machine, E Knight, took matters into her own hands again. Using that ridiculous balance, footwork and explosive pace, she burst straight through the middle, stepped the fullback and touched down under the sticks for her hat-trick! 🤯🔥
Some fantastic breakaway runs from Lexi, Lexie and Scarlett then laid the platform for another attacking opportunity.
A beautifully weighted kick towards the sticks, followed by relentless pressure, forced Wyke into an error.
First tackle... C McDermott came steaming through! 💥
Straight, hard and far too powerful to stop. Another brilliant team try!

🔥 E Knight ×3
🔥 C McDermott ×1

DEFENCE WINS GAMES! 💪🏻
Some absolutely outstanding defensive efforts across the park tonight.
Flo, both Ellas, the twins, Lexi H and Lexie C all put their shoulders in and made their tackles stick. Evie L was throwing herself into some enormous hits through the middle! 💪🏻
But our standout defender tonight?
Scarlett! 🔥
Absolutely spiteful in the best possible rugby sense! She tackled everything that moved, refused to take a backward step and even took a kicked ball straight to the face for good measure! 🤣
A massive defensive shift from the whole team.
Another special mention to Matilda, whose beautifully weighted kicking game continues to make such a difference.
Her game management and ability to put the ball exactly where we need it are becoming invaluable.
And it was fantastic to get some proper minutes into our developing girls. They're gaining confidence, getting stuck into contact and growing with every game. Exactly what we need as we look towards next season. ❤️💚
🏆 PLAYERS OF THE MATCH 🏆
Coaches Player – Scarlett
An absolutely massive effort from the first whistle to the last.
No backward steps, enormous tackles and some brilliant eyes-up rugby. She was everywhere tonight, putting her body on the line and showing just how far she's come.
An absolute warrior and thoroughly deserved recognition! 💪🏻❤️💚
Parents Player – Ella W
Big hits, powerful running and an unbelievable work rate!
Ella put her body on the line time and time again, making some huge tackles and giving absolutely everything in attack.
A brilliant all-round performance from a girl who continues to grow in confidence and physicality. Outstanding effort! 👏🔥
Opposition Player – E Knight
Our usual try machine was at it again! ⚡
Three outstanding tries, including two full-length solo efforts, and another enormous defensive shift.
Her pace, balance and footwork were a nightmare for the opposition, but her willingness to organise the girls, work for her teammates and put her body on the line continues to impress.
Another hat-trick and another performance recognised by the opposition. Well deserved! ❤️💚
ONE TEAM. ONE FAMILY. ❤️💚
A proper hometown derby, a tough Wyke side and another great opportunity for the girls to develop.
What impressed us most tonight was the way the girls responded when Wyke put us under pressure. They dug in, got around each other and found a way to get the job done.
Massive credit to Wyke for a brilliant game played in great spirits. Exactly what grassroots rugby league should be about! 🤝
Proud of every single one of our girls. The progress, togetherness and camaraderie within this group continue to grow.
UP THE WAHHHH! ❤️💚❤️💚
